I am interested in finding someone that makes/crafts fine custom rods..(well put, huh) I am looking for approx 9' rod/light wieght. with some decent backbone. I have been tossin plugs and eels for 5-6 hrs a night 5-6 nights/mornings a week and my arm is hangin, as well as my back/shoulder....any suggestions you guys have would be great...........

BTW - the Batson1088 is lightweight and throws eels well but there are times fishing it where I wish it had much more backbone. Don't get me wrong it's not bad. But from now on this fall I'm fishing a 1088 Allstar I built that had a lot more nuts to turn a fish... But it's no bomber rod

The All Star 1088 is incredibly powerful for how light it is, but I don't like throwing eels with it because it's so stiff. Awsome plug rod though.

Are you using spinning or conventional?

one must define as to where your fishing.....in tite to rocks, lrg. an small or the sand.......that will help you better as to what rod will fit your needs.....example: sand,,,batson 1088 or even a 1087
is more than enough stick to handle anything that swims....except maybe a seal.

I do mostly sand, but of course I move around. I also go to the local ditch/Fore River where there can be a good current, with pilings and rocks...I am gonna attempt the canal this week, I need to start learning it so I will spend a day walking and observing-notes,notes,notes..Then get my line wet at night and give it a whirl.. I am a night fisher, have been and probably will be for a long time..... Who can sleep, there's a 50# just waiting for me..:D

I am a rod whore, problem is I had a garage full of fresh water sticks. Now it's time for big fishies...Lead the way, I will bring my gold card ;)

Can never have too many, unless you ask my GF

Good plugging and eeling rods at roughly 9 feet are
lami arra 1084
Allstar 1145/2
Loomis 108-20
Allstar 1087
Allstar 1088 for moving currents
there are many more at 10 and 10 1/2 feet too.
