Hello All,

I am pleased to announce that MSBA's October meeting (10/27) will include a
presentation titled, The State of New England Fisheries and the Challenges
Ahead.

Paul Howard, the Executive Director from the New England Fisheries
Management Council (NEFMC), will give a presentation describing the state of
New England fisheries and the challenges he sees confronting fisheries
managers and stakeholders in the near and long-term future. Following Mr.
Howard will be Oceana Campaign Projects Manager, Gilbert Brogan (Gib), to
present an environmental group's perspective on what is occurring with New
England's marine resources. Mr. Brogan will also give his thoughts on the
issues and challenges that he sees as important priorities in New England.

Please note that this presentation is not intended as a debate session but
rather an opportunity for folks to learn about the current issues facing New
England fisheries from some of the most knowledgeable folks on the matter.
There is a tremendous amount of conflicting information in the press and on
the internet when it comes to fisheries management (some folks simply pin it
on the weather) and this meeting will be the place for you to hopefully get
some real answers to many of your questions.

Don't forget, MSBA's monthly meetings are open to the public free of charge.
Recreational fishermen, commercial fishermen, environmentalists, whoever,
are all welcome to attend and engage in the discussion of this topic that is
so important to all of us. If you have a friend who you think may be
interested, be sure to bring him or her along too. I hope to see you there!

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the info. MSBA meetings aren't that convenient for me, but I'm going to try to make that one if possible. If not, I assume you November Newsletter will cover the highlights?

Ladies and Gentlemen,

In light of tonight's potentially historic Major League Baseball event, we predict very low turnout for our regularly scheduled meeting. As a result, the MSBA meeting scheduled for October 27, 2004 has been pushed back a week to November 3, 2004.

The originally scheduled speakers have agreed to reschedule as well.

We apologize for any inconvenience and we hope that you can attend next week.

Go Sox,
Mike Flaherty
