View Full Version : Pedro...
afterhours 09-22-2004, 07:02 AM i've noticed that petey is very hittable in the first couple of inning, then he usually bears down when he's warm. why in the hell don't wallace and theresa have him pitch a couple of simulated inning BEFORE the game. maybe i'm wrong, but seems to me that in most games he gets better as the game goes on. just my .02
BigFish 09-22-2004, 07:14 AM Cause' then his pitch count will be off and poor Pedro will only be able to pitch 4 innings instead of six! These pitchers today are so damn fragile! (With the exception of Mr. Schilling) Man, he is a work horse! Pedro is a molly-coddled sissy! OOooopppps....that is 100 pitches.....Pedro has to come out now!:smash: Yet Schilling just keeps on going like the enegizer bunny!
afterhours 09-22-2004, 07:25 AM schilling- man , has he lived up to it or what! old school all the way:)
BigFish 09-22-2004, 07:34 AM You got that right....I think he could have been a great pitcher back in the day where I think if Pedro had to pitch against the likes of Mays, Mantle, Williams, Aaron, etc......he would not be that great a pitcher! My .02 cents!;)
afterhours 09-22-2004, 07:39 AM lets face it, pedros skills are diminishing:( , he was a/the dominate pitcher for about 4/5 years. this is his last year here, take that to the bank.
Surfcastinglife 09-22-2004, 07:41 AM what afterhours just said sounds eerily familiar to dan duquette on roger doesnt it? i'd hate to see pedro win a cy young in pin stripes next year
afterhours 09-22-2004, 07:49 AM you might be right SCL, if clemens had stayed here i don't he would have had nearly the success he has had, he was fat and complacent here. he left here with a chip on his shoulder with something to prove, he worked out and got in shape for the first time in his life! he and pedro have different body types, clemens being the horse and pedro being the chipmunk. methinks the chipmunk may be breaking down, i see him in pinstripes next year, and pavano here.
kippy 09-22-2004, 08:27 AM Pedro has given up 25 homers this year and last year he only gave up 7..Schilling is the ace of the staff..period.
BigFish 09-22-2004, 08:58 AM Good stat on Pedro Kippy but hasn't Schilling given up 28 homeruns?
BigFish 09-22-2004, 09:00 AM Sorry......it was just 23.;)
partsjay 09-22-2004, 08:00 PM Schilling is clearly the ace of this staff. Refreshing to see a guy get pissed when he doesnt pitch a complete game. Guy gets upset with himself all the time...never satisfied.Thats a winning attitude, give the new ownership time to get their guys in place...I hate to sound like a homer but, the new regime will get it done.Look at what they have done so far....and its only been a couple years, have a good strategy I think. If you look back in time..to the old school days, most pitchers pitched complete games and didnt need 5 days rest to do so...reminds me alot of Schilling. He must start game 1 of a playoff series, hes the only one who could come back on a few days rest and get the job done.I am a huge pedro fan but facts are facts.....hes just not what he used to be, flashes of his old self at times, but not as consistant.
afterhours 09-24-2004, 04:27 PM tonite..... first steps on peteys road to redemption?.....or not? go sox!!
