Ok, I'm in NY, so for a rocky area like Montauk, I'm looking for a best bet in a rod that can really toss a bucktail (say 1 1/2oz to 2oz) a good distance while having enough power to keep the fish in control.

I have a Lami GSB 120 1M and a GSB 132 1M. I'm thinking along the lines of 132 1L. Would this be a good choice?

The reels I use are either a Penn 704z or 706z with 50lb Power Pro.

Thanks!

I will go along with Spence's idea and also the Allstar 1088.
If you want to save a few bucks you could also go with the
Amtak> Patriot blank(built by Allstar for Amtak)
the same model blanks 1208 and 1088 would work in the Patriot also.

Loomis made a blank a few years ago that would fit the bill also but off the top of my head I cant remember the model number?

Saltheart do you recall the blank I am talking about??

Think the Allstar 1208 is a little heavy for the 1.5 oz stuff. But it rocks with 2.5-4oz. :D

The 1208 Batson and Amtak are lighter than the Allstar 1208, and work well with the 1.5 to 2.5oz.

My opinion...
1.5 to 3 oz
Batson 1208
Amtak 1208
Allstar 1207

2.5 oz and up
Batson 1209
Amtak 1209
Allstar 1208
Allstar 1206 <--- (great 2pc. rod for 3oz.)

But as always..... just another humble opinion... :D

Maybe a Lami 120 1L.

the Loomis blank that would do 1 to 4 was the 1266/2.

Saltheart,

Just curious why you chose 120 1L vs 132 1L for distance?

Thanks.

The 132 1L would be good too.

PurpleNoon,

Arra 1332 is the rod you want.

Thanks John!

At this rate I need to catch something first! Boy, has it been frustrating. You going to the fling?
