View Full Version : I have created a monster
Striperhound 10-12-2004, 06:37 AM Took the day off last Friday to spend some quality time with my 2 1/2 year old son. Decided to spend some time on the playground close to to the beach so in case some fish popped up we had a shot at them. Worked out well, Blues came in and were cooperative. I would cast, hookup and then hold the rod and my son would get between my legs and crank away until the fish was on the beach. There were several other fisherman there as well and at one point I looked up and saw all these grown men admiring what my little boy was doing and thinking back to when they took thier kids out for the first time. Life is good!

Rob Rockcrawler 10-12-2004, 10:31 AM there is nothing like seeing a dad and his kid fishing, makes me thing of the good ole days with my dad.
Iwannakeeper 10-12-2004, 10:36 AM Wow - that is a great story. I got a smile just reading it. That is what fishing is all about. I do not have kids of my own, but have taken my nephews out and it is always special. Even if the fish were not so cooperative.

tynan19 10-12-2004, 10:52 AM I can't wait for that, my 1 1/2 year old son is already running around the yard with my poles. He can't hold them up and reel yet, but he tries. Mostly drags the tips on the ground. Next summer should be great.:D
Karl F 10-12-2004, 11:42 AM lifetime of memories and good times, great thing to give to your kids... my son was about 6 years old in this picture, up and has the first bait rod out about 5:30 one August morning.... :D
Don't seem like that long ago... where does the time go?
Backbeach Jake 10-12-2004, 02:03 PM My youngest is closing in on 22. Can't believe how fast that went. His Sister is 24. They both turned out to be fine adults, I think due to time spent with them kivver fishing.:D Keep up the good work!
vineyardblues 10-12-2004, 03:05 PM Well, I have been on the Vineyard for 10 days fishing :)
The wife and daughter got a boat for the long weekend to join me. Took my 11 year old girl over to chappy and BAM !!!!
She got first albie from shore :) I was 12 feet off the ground.
It could not have been a better fishing trip for me.

Hooper 10-12-2004, 05:52 PM My Dad did that to me at the age of 8.....
It is an addiction that has cost me THOUSANDS$$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!
:laughs:
Fish_Eye 10-17-2004, 06:01 PM Congratulations...you qualify as a Super-DAD! Anyone who takes the time to get a child interested in fishing is nothing short of a hero to me.
Isn't it amazing how some of the best fishing trips you've ever had involve someone other than yourself catching the fish...not to say it isn't a bad idea to crank one in yourself every now and again.
