View Full Version : Wreckage
Arzic Olivier 10-13-2004, 04:40 AM No such boat in Brittany, sea is too rough !!!!!!!!
But this happened last sunday, professional lobster pot boat, 4 mates injured, one missing, just at the entrance of the harbor (which is quite safe)...
Because of an engine breakdown ?
I've been windsurfung, surfing, and now boating : stay humble, the price to pay is your life...
And a million $ boat can always fail.
Fish On 10-13-2004, 04:48 PM Can't see it very well. Can you attach a link or a bigger picture?
Arzic Olivier 10-14-2004, 02:16 AM I'm looking for one in the local on-line papers...
quick decision 10-14-2004, 11:31 AM What kind of fish to you like to catch in France?
Arzic Olivier 10-15-2004, 03:48 AM Rec fishing for European bass, on the lure
Flyfishing for E Bass, needlefish, mackerel
Chunk fishing or live bait fishing (with mackerel, sand eels) for pollock, cod, "flat" fish (fluke, flounder ?).
Weakfish/salmon from time to time...
I mostly cast plugs, though a little bit of bait fishing can be nice when the weather is dead calm! !
but beware, species are smaller, and keeper size is smaller too !!!
But no bag size !
sample of live bait fishing (10 pounder bass and same size pollock):
Arzic Olivier 10-15-2004, 03:51 AM And another nice bag fished with plugs this time :
UserRemoved1 10-15-2004, 05:23 AM they lost their stripes :laughs:
Arzic Olivier 10-15-2004, 06:54 AM Yep, they went into the washing machine, lost their stripes and shrank (?)
UserRemoved1 10-15-2004, 06:56 AM lol that's a pretty cool looking strain of bass, looks to have really large scales too? Pretty coloring too.
tynan19 10-15-2004, 07:02 AM Still many similarities.

Didn't you know stripers are yankee fish, that's why they wear yankee jerseys in the US, but in france, however, no yankees=no stripes. Just my 2 cents :D :D
quick decision 10-15-2004, 08:22 AM Those are cool looking bass. You said they are a bit smaller. Whats the biggest one you have seen?
Arzic Olivier 10-15-2004, 08:33 AM Last fall/winter, I guess the biggest catch we (me or my friends, on one of our boats) got was a 14 pounder, about 3 feet long.
During the season we regularly catch 9 pounders.
I sometimes hear from 20 pounders, but such fish is caught once or twice a year in the area, to give you an idea.
And I remind you that keeper size for European bass is 15 inches, well under 2 pounds.
It also explains why our standard plugs are around/under one ounce (popular one = large excalibur super spook).
But personnally during the fall/winter I'll use bigger ones such as the Cordell Pencil Popper, available in France.
And this year I brought from the US a large bag of stuff, including needlefish (Superstrikes, Gag's, even small Hab's, lucky me !!!), that I'll try in my honeyholes.
Be sure I'll give a feedback, hopefully with pictures, if I'm successful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
