My wife and I are considering a change in pace for a week's vacation next year (August '05). Instead of Cape Cod, we thought about a spot in R.I. It's just the two of us and I will trailer an 18' center console. Been to Block Island several times and probably don't want to deal with getting to and from with the boat.

Can anyone give me some general areas to focus my research on through the upcoming winter? Am looking for the following:

Good fishing area (duh!)
Local guides or charters - might get the 'lay of the land' from a professional first before we venture out ourselves
One or more good public ramps
Shore fishing options for those windy days
Quiet area with good resaurants nearby
Reasonable prices for small vacation rentals - up to $1,000 per week
Other non-fishing, tourist-type attractions available

In other words - someplace like Orleans or Falmouth on the Cape.

Thanks.
