View Full Version : Aquidneck Island and stolen gear

Keep everything out of sight and secure, on the Island and elsewhere. I've heard of two separate incidents in the past couple weeks of people's gear being stolen.

A fully loaded Aquaskinz bag was grabbed out of a friends truck just a few days ago. He stopped, got out to take a quick look at a spot and left the truck just for a few minutes with the bag in the bed of the truck. It and a 5 gallon pail with other plugs and jigs were gone when he returned.

Nevermind the financial loss, it really sucks to have the thought of your gear being stolen come to mind everytime you think of fishing. It's tough to fish for a while after something like that happens.

Read a warning years ago in THE FISHERMAN about trucks being broken into at Deep Hole at Matunuck and fishing gear stolen while guys fished on the beach.

Don't have a theft problem here in Mass. Too much money.

Savages!

If it was during the day you can say it was kids being stupid.

If it was deep into the night then it was fellow fisherpersons.

I can live with stupid kids, I would hate to think it was one of us.

Why would "A kid being stupid" want to steal somebodies plug bag? People that steal plugs, rods etc. are definetly fisherman.

I would hate to think it was a fisherman, and I wouldn't call them a fellow fisherman because theft from a "brother" just isn't acceptable, it's just BS:whackin:

*ouch*

After reading all this I'm becoming a strong advocate of

1) bring only what you can carry with you, give or take

2) Whatever you do leave in the car, keep it out of sight.

If you have a cooler or a spare rubbermate tote, these containers make for wonderful dry storage (reels, plug bags, etc).

Out of sight, out of mind.

Pete G did it....

Motive = More sales for SE

Opportunity = He sold them the stuff in the first place, so he knows who has it.

Be sure to check your Aquaskinz bags for tracking devices.

Tip, refuse any complimentary plugs with that bag :heybaby:

Actually more then a few things in that bag were one of a kind or at the very least rare around here.

A couple of the plugs were given to one of the guys in the shop by Beachmaster when we picked up the last batch of plugs.

If I find someone the fishing those lures, that person is going swimming. The water is getting pretty chilly now, hypothermia sets in quickly...

I have a great idea (IMHO) you should send me all the plugs that you know were stolen and then i could help you keep an eye out:kewl: doing anything I can to help:rollem:

Pete -G, was it the young guy who works in the shop? I was there a week ago buying a few things and noticed all the stuff in the back of his truck. I thought that it was dangerous to even leave the stuff in your parking lot. Hope he gets it back.
