View Full Version : Heres a question for everybody
mrmacey 10-19-2004, 07:54 AM If you had a store on a major highway with plenty of exposure, parking, signage etc!!! what would you sell I need some ideas I have one thing running out of the back office but to get the signs I needed to rent the whole store now I have a beautiful store front with nothing to sell any ideas it has to mix in with limousines I allready thought of Roses,Flags,American theme items, balloons, but theres an Iparty real close so it knocks alot of party ideas out lets see what a bunch of fisherman can come up with I apprieciate the help.
The Dad Fisherman 10-19-2004, 08:30 AM How about a store that specializes in Wines, Cheeses, and Chocolates.....alll Things that people like to enjoy when they are in a Limo
RIROCKHOUND 10-19-2004, 08:37 AM Tackle Shop :D
Just kidding...
PM sent.....
I would make it a high end fish market. Not nearly enough of those around, and when managed properly margins can be awesome!
I would drive around and make a list of what else is around as far as retail stores.. when you get home, go over the list and see what is missing that would interest you and keep your attention. You have to love what you do or you will be misserable. I love what I do for a living and sometimes i am still misserable:smash:
mrmacey 10-19-2004, 09:19 AM your talking alot of money to start that freezer, frig, ice maker etc!!
Im looking for something a little less start up I have an idea for a computer expert to come in and train seinor citizen and the computer illiterate some basic e-mail services a one on one training all I would need is a desk and computer to start you know theres alot of older pepole who need this service you can actually sell and install home computers software Hmmmm the possibilities are endless any computer pepole want to talk!!!!
Assuming my lease allowed it, I would stry to sublet the space to some other business. You can cut down your own operating expenses and you wouldn't run the risk of spreading yourself too thin.
mrmacey 10-19-2004, 09:27 AM A HABS affiliate one store dedicated to HABS LURES and of course GS Rubber on the other wall. KACHINGGGGG!!!!!
The Dad Fisherman 10-19-2004, 09:31 AM Its not like the good old days when you could turn $300-400 on a "Custom" PC. Nowadays your lucky if you can make $50 on one. Right now they are so damn cheap its not worth it to build a couple of PC's for sale. remember when you sell one to someone you are now their point of service should they have any problems w/ it. I don't think you want that type of aggravation.
I would personally stay clear of any product that requires any kind of servicability.
and not to knock the elderly, Because I'm going to be in that club soon enough, but they aren't exactly the most technologically savvy people out there. That could lead to a lot of headaches for you.

Wouldn't that be the same as a Cocaine addict being a dealer....you'd be using more than you'd be selling..:D
how about a nudy bar. just kidding how about a wedding store that sells wedding dress and tuxes. and at the same time, you could offer your limo service.
Motor Fish 10-19-2004, 10:30 AM Would the location be any good for a gas station? That would work for the limo's too. Probably high start up costs though.
Just to be selfish, I think the Hab's affiliate / tackle shop is a great idea!!! :D

Bad idea. Some grandma would try to use the mouse as a sewing machine pedal. Seriously, very inconsistant and very low margin. You need something else...
Jimbo 10-19-2004, 11:45 AM How about a driving school? Prepare kids to take on the driver's ed type classroom stuff and behind the wheel to practice for the driving test.
Krispy 10-19-2004, 12:11 PM Condoms, escort service
mrmacey 10-19-2004, 12:12 PM THAT GOES RIGHT WITH THE LIMO lol!
fishweewee 10-19-2004, 01:23 PM Krispy beat me to it.
Outcall escort service and on-premise massage. :hihi:
Immediate cash-on-cash return on investment.
mrmacey 10-19-2004, 01:51 PM ROSES and balloons just roses no other kind of flowers I can put up on my sign nice slogans like
IS SHE MAD? ROSES $12.99 DOZ
GET LUCKY!! ROSES $12.99 DOZ ETC!
Valentines Day Roses $150.00 DOZ
Maybe deliveries by Limo and Chauffeur, balloons and roses. the possibilities are endless Dad fisherman has the right idea I just dont know about wine thats a liquor licence.
By the way weewee I expected so much more from you:D
fishweewee 10-19-2004, 02:28 PM Mike,
Other than getting into technology manufacturing or certain high-end luxury goods retailing, an escort service can garner gross margins >= 50%! (I'd stay out of the former cuz it's capital and R&D intensive, and you have inventory risk with the latter).
Yes, just by being an efficient pimp, your cut is HALF of what the hired help bring in! And that's being a generous, er, "manager."
And the service sells itself - it has for thousands of years. No crazy sales and marketing budgets required. :hihi:
The Dad Fisherman 10-19-2004, 02:38 PM If I'm not mistaken there is a different license for just beer and wine as opposed to a liquour license. Thats why a lot of brewpubs that make thier own don't carry liquour just beer and wine. I'm pretty sure its a lot cheaper too.
mrmacey 10-19-2004, 02:39 PM But I need to go at it in a high end type of way that way I can bank money for my defence team and to find a new office location massages is cool just disguise it as Rainki LOL!!:D
chris L 10-19-2004, 02:42 PM how about a brothel ? you can pick up the clients with a limo and then they can have their way at the store front and wiz them back home/office by limo . 1 hr $185 for a 1/2 tour $300 for an around the block .
fishweewee 10-19-2004, 02:46 PM Ew, imagine all that skank on leather seats on a hot summer day. :yak:
chris L 10-19-2004, 02:49 PM stanky leather seats that already happens ! no in the store the limo is for traveling to and fro . all high end ala heidi flies . how many high end clients can you get with a beat to crap chevy yellow cab ? NONE
mrmacey 10-19-2004, 02:50 PM we are thinking inside the box!! ahhh! lets get our heads out of the gutter and think outside the box!!:D
chris L 10-19-2004, 02:54 PM sorry Im gutter trash I dont know anything outside of the dumpster . NEXT !
mrmacey 10-19-2004, 03:06 PM open these big cell phone stores I mean theres one beside me there is never anyone in there I allways wonder how he pays his rent the same with tux shops how do they do it nobody is ever in there:confused:
how about a car detailing shop. you could have a couple of gus on-call, and you wouldnt need to worry about selling any hard goods. Then if you got into it you could hire a guy to instal stereos adn fancy rims....
bling bling baby:D
fishnfriar 10-19-2004, 04:08 PM Rent the space to the Bear's Den. They need to get out of that hole in the ground. Then you can have all that good stuff right at hand.
