View Full Version : Sand Run For Saturday Morning Details
BigFish 10-20-2004, 09:36 PM Meet at the Dunkin Donuts in Eastham at 5:00 am and go from there.......5:00 am no later....time to get coffee and head out.....if you are late, I will leave details as to where we are going to fish here on the site before Friday evening! Who is coming and who has Race stickers?:D
Backbeach Jake 10-20-2004, 10:02 PM Have sticker-will travel:D
tynan19 10-20-2004, 10:04 PM I would like to come. No sticker.
Backbeach Jake 10-20-2004, 10:07 PM You can ride shotgun, Tynan.
tynan19 10-20-2004, 10:10 PM Alright thanks. Time to use some sick time.:smash:
Vectorfisher 10-20-2004, 10:16 PM I would like in No sticka though
Iwould like in.... no truck. Need spot.
Let me know.
Thanks
Zac
BigFish 10-21-2004, 06:50 AM OK its a go then.....I can take two in my jeep but we must travel light......if we have room for all in stickered vehicles we will hit the Race for sunrise......bring plugs.....topwater and swimmers, tins and I highly recommend 1 oz. Gibbs pencil poppers in yellow w/red head! Sound good everyone?:D
Iwannakeeper 10-21-2004, 08:53 AM I am in for one and if there is room two. The little woman would like to go, but only if there is a free spot, not taken by a person from the site.
I do not have a stickah' So I need to jump in with someone.
And I will have to be very careful. I tend to bring tooo much #^&#^&#^&#^& when I go. Got to pack light.
If for some reason this gets cancelled or I cannot get a ride, I think I am heading to So Co looking for ALbies.

Vectorfisher 10-21-2004, 11:54 AM Bigfish we need to be bringing waders I assume? Also not too familiar with down the cape, directions to Dunkin Donuts
BigFish 10-21-2004, 03:31 PM How many vehicles with stickers do we have? I count mine and BBJ's truck....that only leaves room for two in my vehicle and maybe two in BBJ's truck! If we don't have room for everyone to go out on the Race we can just hit one of the backside beaches.:D Fishing there is just as good as fishing the Race.:D
Iwannakeeper 10-21-2004, 04:17 PM Lemme know if there are seats available or if we are hitting another beach. I am heading out fishing now.....I will check later tonight. I won't have access to the web much of tomorrow, but will check tomorrow night as well.
If there are seats or you guys decide to head to another beach lemme know. Don't modify the trip on my account. If others got a ride - by all means go. If not with you, I might head south to So. Co looking for Albies, I know it is a little late in the year. I got to do the MV thing about a month earlier next year.
Or I will just end up at the ditch tossing Eels Friday night into Saturday morning.

Waders would be good to have but are not necessary.......you will need a plugging rod, plug bag, plugs and not much else! Leaders, and stuff like that but thats about it! Dress warm.....are we doing this or what?:D
RickBomba 10-21-2004, 05:42 PM I think the Bomba's are going to SoCo...Too bad...we'd have like 5 spots between us.
Good Luck Guys!

BigFish 10-21-2004, 05:43 PM :(
tynan19 10-21-2004, 05:55 PM Check, Check, Check I'm in. :D
Vectorfisher 10-21-2004, 06:18 PM I'm in How much of a pain to get a sticker?? Can it be done at 5 in the morning?
BigFish 10-21-2004, 06:33 PM No too early Vectorfisher...don't worry....there will be great fishing no matter where we go!:D
Rappin Mikey 10-21-2004, 08:09 PM Yeah, I hadn't quite made up my mind yet, but I just got word from my parents that they are staying at the Andrea this weekend. My dad was the first person to bring me to Naps when I was a kid. I have only fished with him a hand full of times since then. The opportunity to fish with my father and my brother at the same time only comes along once so often. I gotta jump on it when I can. You guys will have a blast and definitely catch fish. I know cause, the fish are always where I decide not to go. Have fun!!!!
Rappin Mikey 10-21-2004, 08:20 PM Old school pic with me and my dad from the late 70's. That reel still gets use from time to time.
Slingah 10-21-2004, 08:23 PM too cool RM....too cool :D
I am going to bow out. It is too much effort for me to get out there for only 1 day of fishing when there is hot fishing action 10 mins from my house.
East Greenwich to Eastham is probably 2hrs+ drive.
I am pretty bummed out, because I have never even been out there, let alone fished out there... And it looks/sounds so cool. Wife and I decided that we will spend a 4 day weekend out there next year.
Perhaps one of you guys can show me the ropes then. I should also have a :ss: by then:happy:
That should open a spot for your s/o IWK.
:(
Zac
P.S.
I am now officially a "Fishing Wimp."
:err:

SBASS1 10-22-2004, 06:45 AM Wow Rappin Mikey w/ hair!
Flaptail 10-22-2004, 07:10 AM Just to let you guys know I was on the beach last night with Stifftip and the surf is really up, I mean really up. The beach was mostly unfishable. The water is riled with sand and a lot of annoying weed. The weather forecast for tonights wind is North/northeast 15 to 25. The race has schoolies around to Hatches for the first two of the outgoing then the wind just pushes the water out. If you are going to try it. Scout the lots and try to find the cleanest water or just head to Herring cove and try the Bluefish there. There are some big ones, biggest of the season. Bass there are 99-9/10% micros. It's going to be a heavy metal day if you know what I mean. Just thought I would let you all know. When this wind lays down in Mid-week it should be great. All the fish we caught last night were skinny, really skinny. I don't think they have really started to feed ot there just ain't no bait. In the dark black and black/purple. The outer beach won't be good till the wind dies. Hope you do better and the wind dies but it don't look good.
BigFish 10-22-2004, 07:16 AM Thanks Flap for the update....who is for fishing local? Might be easier for some of you! We could fish high slack at the canal.....or fish one of the bay areas on the south shore? Any thoughts?:D I wanna fish dammit!
Bronko 10-22-2004, 08:14 AM I like your style BigFish! I got a wedding tonight (Friday) but if you guys will be fishing tomorrow or Sunday I want to try and hook up with you all.
Flaptail 10-22-2004, 08:44 AM Canal's best bet. Plugs and Jigs.:D

Im in for what ever. Are we still meeting at 5:00 because if we don't go that far I can be there after 3:00 or later. Like if we fish the Canal that is only an hour an 20 for me.
Vectorfisher 10-22-2004, 01:00 PM Canal is fine with me I am dissappointed that fishing the sand isn't going to workout:mad:
Vectorfisher 10-22-2004, 01:01 PM On another note I think we need to stop planning trips it seems someone is watching us from above:rolleyes:
JPowers 10-22-2004, 01:41 PM Canal ain't much better - water very sandy.
Wind seems to be more ENE than just NE - canal just funnels that wind like a wind tunnel.
Motor Fish 10-22-2004, 02:06 PM I may want to get in on this if possible. I'd love to meet and fish with you guys. Please post final plans when you guys decide on something. I might just show up. I drive a grey jeep wrangler.
BigFish 10-22-2004, 02:26 PM Final decision.....we shall fish Duxbury Bay at sunrise! Bring waders if ya got them, plugs, plugs and more plugs! Travel light as we are gonna do some walking! We shall meet at 5:00 am at Dunkin Donuts in Norwell on Rt 53. Take exit 13 off route 3 and head towards Norwell....come to intersection if route 53 and 123...Dunkin Donuts on right! If interested reply here and I will pm my cell phone number to you in case you get lost! Or call me this evening if you need to talk to me (I may be busy so leave your name and number on my phone answering service):D
We are fishing dammit and 5:00 am is the meeting time....be there no later than 5:15 cause once we coffee up we are leaving! If you are late we will be fishing by the Powder Point Bridge in Duxbury which is right on Duxbury Beach! You can meet us there if late!;)

BigFish 10-22-2004, 04:53 PM Sorry Fred...we are gonna miss you! Backside does not look great so we had to move it.:(

Codfather4 10-22-2004, 09:11 PM Good luck at Duxbury, I just got back from Plymouth Harbor and it was completly unfishable. I swear there were gust over 40 mph.
These northeast winds are killing me:af:
Codfather4 10-22-2004, 09:21 PM On second thought I will go, but dont you need a permit to fish duxbury bridge
Codfather4 10-22-2004, 09:21 PM i mean beach

BigFish 10-23-2004, 12:11 AM Had a surprise B-Day party tonight and just got in...will try to be there but don't hate my guts if I don't make it! Hope to see you there.
MikeTLive 10-23-2004, 02:29 PM (good thing I saw larry's post before I left)
well, that was a rockin good time for all who showed up.
Started slowly with some hot beverages from dunkins and a quick check of the map. We then split up into two groups and headed to a couple different places.
Were went, the wind was howling and the birds tried to have their way with some of my plugs. In fact, I personally lost two plugs today. :(
One #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& blem snagged on bottom, and my favorite - a yellow 2part poplar bottle type I got from an MSBA'er sailed straight off into the sunrise when the line snapped. I have no idea why as it didnt jam and the bail was still up.
Not a lot of bait was seen by me, heck not a lot of fish either...
In fact, not a lot of s-b.com folks were seen...
Heck, there was only me and one other person, and he came all the way from Worcester!!
Hope he had better luck.
Well a morning fishing is better than most anything else so it was not a total loss.
