Fished this am from 4:30-10:00. Surf was huge. Found fish up tight, had a blast. Managed close to a dozen bass in the mid 30" range. Tough fishing though, fell on me arse a few times, thank God it was sand. I need Aquaskins bad, I'm like a drowned rat now. Only bad part of the morning was I lost my favorite Canalman popper on a fish, and abot 50#'s of mung.:crying: Get out and fish guys, but be careful in the big surf.
Dave, I need another blue popper, Please.......

I hear ya!!! I was out and got my arse kicked in the surf! I specifically targeted beaches that were NE facing trying to get the biggins in close chasing bait and it worked!!!
It was funny as hell, I did not put on my waders because the wind was blowing so bad that it was impossible to do. I took my shoes off and went fishing in my jeans. I must of looked like one of the idiot tourist but I think I got a little respect from the locals that were there fishing because I was using my conventional (BG7500) while everyone else was using spinning.
The only thing we could throw in those conditions was metal as the plugs wood have blown back at me!
We got a good number of fish but could have had more if the lures were able to get out further; you could see the fish stacked like cord wood but could not reach them.
The fishing was tough but it was one of the best fishing experiences I have ever had. I caught more and bigger fish other times but to be out there seeing the surf raging was WAY COOL!!!
I will try to get out there again maybe next time I will bring a longer rod than my 10'.

Dave,
You can have the blue herring pattern Canalman popper I have as I wont be using it..........
I told you to invest in a Aquaskinz jacket!! That would have prevented you from changing your clothes numerous times this morning! Another word of advice......
If your going to fish in those conditions it might be a good idea to invest in a pair of SOSpender's too! Maybe even a locating beacon!
All this talk of fish has me going stir crazy being out of commission and all! arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!:af: :af:
Guy's catch a few for me too!!

I agree on the PFD!!
The BG7500 is great I only nested when my crippled herring broke off at the knot but a quick fix resolved the nest.
