I threw everything but the kitchen sink yesterday and came up with 1 rat bluefish:yak: so i decided to do some experimenting .
Habs, Beachmaster.Gibbs,and #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& needles. 10 knots breeze left to right with a 10ft med action ugly stick ,penn 7500 with 35lb whiplash . Beach masters seemed to tumble no matter how I cast them .The seem to fat and too light. #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&s better but floated in the air . Gibbs alittle more tail heavy good in the wind , Habs go like a damn rocket!!!! Now if I could only find a consistant supply of them with good color selection. The beachmasters need some lead in the butt so I'll drill and fill with lead and epoxy this winter . I like the beachmasters for their girth I just wished they would cast better. How do I get my hands on a BM needle to compare? Anybody finding the same results? Or was I just to damn board ?

Different needles for different conditions. The big Habs may be better in the heavy surf and massive wind, but they may require a little more effort to keep them off the bottom unless it's really big.

I love the Beachmaster needles, they have a wonderful moderate tail-heavy sink to them and great action. Can fish big and moderate water.

Salty's are great when it's not as rough, really nice weight for a teaser.

I'm no needle expert (not even close) but I love them all :lm:

JimO, Glad you like the NEEDLES, There is no effort to keeping them of the BOTTOM. Cast them out reel in slack and they STAY UP with no EFFORT, Just as PRODUCTIVE in the CALM as in the BIG SURF................ GOOD FISHING...................

No, it was on another $#%&*(# rock!!!:af: :af: :af: :af: Every time i try and use habs needles i get no more then 20 casts and shes stuck to a rock.:smash: :af: :af: :af: The surf was huge last night and i still got hung up.

chef, there is an art to fishing the Habs. you can countdown, pause, dart, speed up, slow down, stop, etc... they all work at different times, just gotta know when to use what. if you are hanging up half way in, speed your retreive just before you would normally hang to bring the needle back up in the water column. then return to the original retreive rate.

Habs, that's just my experience with the big 3.5 ounce ones...no issues with the others, but like I said...I'm no needle expert...

spence, the 3.5 ouncers actually have a slower sink rate than the 2.5 ounce. they should be, at least in my testing, easier to keep off the bottom. :huh:

Some want them on TOP some want them on the BOTTOM Where the BIGGER FISH ARE, Yes Mr. Lapiniski is correct on How to fish them. I designed them to be Versitle , To fish ALL Depths of the WATER columes............

With the flashlight moon this past night, it was the only lure that worked for me. 2 oz Habs deep in the water column.

Probably just user error :smash: I've not fished the big ones a lot though...need to play around more.
