Is it any good for plugs. My father just had a tree removed from his property and he's saving me a few select pieces for some plugs. Should be nice a dry after drying in the shed over the winter.

I had good luck with birch by splitting into quarters green and letting it dry by my woodstove about a month. It relieves soem of the internal strss when you split it.... MikeTLive 10-28-2004, 11:45 AM sounds like Barbecue time  send that non-plug cherry, apple, maple and oak my way. yum yum yum John E 10-28-2004, 12:04 PM Thanks guys. Should be getting some pieces about 3" - 4" and 2 ft. long. In think I'll just seal and clear coat. Adam R 10-28-2004, 01:15 PM You might want to put some latex paint on the end grain while the wood dries out. It will help the wood dry in a more uniform manner and reduce the chance of it splitting. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
