'The Firemen’s Prayer '
When I am called to duty, God,
Where the flames may rage,
Give me strength to save a life
Whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child
Before it is too late,
Or save some older person from
The horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert,
And hear the weakest shout
And quickly and effectively
To put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling
And give the best in me.
To guard my every neighbor
And protect his property.
And if according to Your will,
I have to lose my life
Please bless with Your protecting hand
My children and my wife.

My dad my uncle and bro are all police officers, my other uncle is fireman. I have seen a lot of tradgedies my self. I have put a 13 year old girl, 18 year old boy, babies and mothers and fathers in the morgue at my hospital, while escorting the families away.
In Worcester we had that fire 5 years ago that killed 6 fireman. It seems like yesterday, everyone was affected by it. My father had to to details at the sit as they combed through the rubble. I volunteered for the Red Cross feeding the searches and fireman and it was amazing to see the thousands of Fireman from all over the country come pay theie respects.
I for one have never said anything bad about someone who risks their life everyday to save others. That is to bad that the fireman who wrote that feels that way.
