It will be a melange' of jointed swimmers (yes jointed swimmers) metal lipped swimmers, Surf Howdy clones and Master Lure clones! Lots of different swimmers though! Will post asap!

i turned my first few needles yesterday at the new house.. had

my first real explosion too... funny that maple will shatter into

bits if you catch an edge the wrong way..

no pics yet..

crash, how do you like through drilling the maple? BE CAREFUL that stuff hates me. almost everytime it grabs on me :smash:

i just need to get 1st term in school over. then im going to go nuts with plugs.:smash: :)

smoke s like a bastage.. probably using the wrong bit to start off.. but i did not have much with me yseterday..

i held them by hand and started the pilot holes.. i'll bring my long bit back with me and hook that up to the chuck i have to go with the jet..

i think i am going to get the extension bed for the lathe..

14" is not enough to thru drill some needles.. .so i have found.

A few just off the drying rack. All AYC and thru-wired. Poppers are 1 1/4 oz and weighed so they'll walk real nice  Swimmers are a tad over 1 oz. Nice wiggle to those and they dig 2-4 feet.

That style of popper was my best producer during my Cape trip. The jointed, in black, took my first surf striper :)

Stainless steel lip, cut it myself.

Very nice work!!!

I'm ending up thinkng that cutting a lip is sometimes a necessary part of the process in order to get exactly what you're looking for. Curious about two things. Guage of stainless steel?
Buffing/ easing of cut edge so that it won't cut your line?

nice plugs! capesams, what kinda lips you using, homemades?

steelhead
11-04-2004, 12:09 PM
That is a very interesting shape. Is there is history behind it? manufacturer inspired? Something you developed? Long, narrow, with the broadest part towards the back with that thin taperd tail. Is that shaped derived for a particular action? Or type of water?

capesams
11-04-2004, 12:28 PM
lips r home grown...right now I don't know of anyone making them:(

the danny is something I spun out one nite a year or so ago....just foolin around...that's the lrger one out of the two sizes I make. wasn't anything special....but works well;)

Thanks CS. May have to try my hand at that shape. I like it. Does the wide shoulder being shifted to the rear of the plug tend to make it roll a bit more?
