Everyone bring one plug for me.

JohnR
11-04-2004, 02:12 PM
AND To sweeten the deal, I will be giving a plug silhoueted S-B oval bumper sticker to every one that show :D

A few people have mentioned that we need to have more plug in the plugfest so Booger and Bigfish have been working extradiligentlike to come up with more pluggage and a little more interesting with a little good natured competition as well :)

I also promise to have completed my first plug for your inspection that day. This MAGNIFICENT plug has been a labor of love for nearly 4 years since I started R&D at the 1st S-B plugfest back in Slip's garage :hihi: . It will should be ready :D

And thanks to Booger and Larry for taking helping out and organizing this event!

Thanks,

John

Motorfish...I will have to defer that question to #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& or JohnR. I am not sure we want too many non-members coming as it is a site event put on for and by the members......who did you have in mind?

BF - sent ya a pm

BigFish
11-05-2004, 04:48 PM
I recieved a pm in regards to the cover charge of $10.00 for the "Plugfest 2005". Just to all who want to know, last year we did in fact have a cover of $5.00 and this went to cover cost of the hall.....this year Scott and I are working hard to make this a first class event and we have recieved much input from many of you and also have brainstormed up some pretty good ideas of our own. However, some of this is going to cost money so we initiated a cover of $10.00 to cover the costs with the remainder of the money going to help JohnR with the costs of running this fine site. We do not believe $10.00 to be in any way out of line as it is a site get together and traditionally such events generate some funds to be given to the site to defray operating costs......Gawd knows I use this site quite a bit and that ain't cheap!:D

MAC

I ASKED a simple ?..why $10.00 from last years $5.00....BF kindly told me what it covered,,,,all of a sudden it turned into someone BITCHING about the cover charge.... then other's jump on it, knowing nothing but what they've read buy other's...get the facts right before you go and start shooting from the hip...

BigFish
11-05-2004, 06:54 PM
Guys...this has nothing to do with anyone being cheap or bitching about the cover charge....someone pm'd me with a simple and fair question and I answered it and thought a general explanation should be posted in case anyone else had the same thought.;) No harm and no foul....just a simple question asked.:)

Slipknot
11-05-2004, 08:00 PM
OK, all is well now. I guess it all could have been avoided had someone explained the jump to 10 bucks from 5 last year up front. All's well that ends well. Plug building is supposed to be fun. We all chip in and have fun. Scott was nice enough to step up this year, (I did it last year and paid the dough out of my pocket too) . John will get to benefit from this also and I think the competitions are an interesting addition to the plugfest. No need to get on soapboxes or jump to any conclusions,, I think we can all get along just fine. The Red Sox won the World Series, we should be smiling for atleast a year now :D

That said, I think we will all be looking forward to this again.

BigFish
11-05-2004, 08:15 PM
Scott and I discussed this also.....that all plug builders should bring along some of their finest work to display and of course.....;) plug swapping is encouraged as, after all, this is "Plugfest 2005"! Ho'ing is a given....but swapping, trading, buying and selling is all encouraged. More importantly though, I think everyone would enjoy the opportunity to see a little bit of everyones finest work....so bring some of yours for all to see.:eyes:

#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& and I are working out an events list for the day and will post it later on so stay tuned and get them lathes-a-turnin' cause I want some plugs!:D

BigFish
11-05-2004, 08:19 PM
You have some.... I saw them!:D

JohnR
11-05-2004, 08:57 PM
Like Booger and Larry said, there are going to be increased costs in putting this together this year. Last year with the 5 bucks cover the balance went to the site after paying Slip for the hall. If this were a really profitable web site, I'd throw the thing on for free. If I hit Powerball between now and then it'll be free too :) (and if it's decent money I'll rent a floor at the local hotel :hihi: ). But we will try to make it more than worth your while to come and particpate.

We also should have a prize for the person that comes the furthest, like a date with Manzi or something....

BigFish
11-05-2004, 09:02 PM
If you guys like "Plug Night" at MSBA and you like the "Plugfest".....picture this years "Plugfest 2005" as being a hybrid of both of those carefully woven together......and on steroids! :D

For your entertainment pleasure and for those hungry to learn, we will be having several knowledgeable speakers giving presentations at "PlugFest 05".:D

1. Flaptail will give a presentation on "Plug History" which should be great....Steve knows his plugs and I am sure will have many of his classics on hand to show.;)

2. Slipknot will be giving a demonstration on "How To Turn A Small Danny W/A Lefty Lip" Bruce knows his stuff so if turning a Danny is something you would like to try, don't miss this. (Plus hoping his lovely wife sends along a batch of her famous brownies)

3. Adam R. aka Adam Romagna will be giving a presentation on "Plug Collecting". Adam R. makes some of the finest plugs on the planet, but from what I have heard of Adam R. (having never had the pleasure of meeting him) is that he has one of the finest plug collections on the planet also! His knowledge of plug collecting is as vast as his talent so if you want some tips on plug collecting.....don't miss Adam R.:btu:

Hi Folks,

I posted earlier that I would be coming to the Plug Fest. Seems we now have to go to an auction in NH on the feast day. As antique dealers this comes under the heading of “work” and is a must go-to. So I will miss meeting all you plug makers this time around… More so, I am going to miss sampling some of that good grub I see coming to the feast. Hopefully it will happen next year. I am mostly a “lurker” on this forum but do enjoy reading all the interesting posts.
