When I got my penn 6500 quite a few years back, I got some free lures along with it. One of them is a bagley top gun #15. Yellow over white. I never really used it in the 5 years that I've had it. Tonight I finally did.

I fished the reef and struck out so I walked the mile or two back to the marina casting along the way. So I make it to the marina and right when I'm making my way to my corner, some guy shows up. If opening your mouth was a crime, the guy would be locked away forever. It's an interesting corner. I'll enclose a pic of a little map just so you can see what a hotspot it can be.

So he's going on about what a bad season, blah blah blah. I was casting my yo-zuri then and nothing. I decide to switch over to the top gun. I used a start/stop retrieve and I get wacked by a bluefish. Only about 3lbs but it was a fish! Amazing little lure. Dives a little deeper than a mambo but not as deep as a bomber. I'm gonna definitely use it more.

Okay, here is how it is.

On the upper left is the marina and the channel from the marina leading to the main channel. The current flow depends on the tide.

In the upper right, that's the main channel aka Ash Creek. The water is always going out. Even when the tides coming in.

In the top middle, there is a peninsula that has all small rocks. It's really a submerged point. I've found some pretty large stripers hanging around that point.

The stick figure is my corner. and the bottom right is ash creek that eventually, about 40 feet down the creek flows into Long Island sound.

When the tide is coming in, it really churns up right in the middle. We get it all in there. Winter flounder, summer flound, bluefish, stripers, blackfish on occasion, saw a weakfish there, american and hickory shad although the former is rarer. It's a neat little spot.

Baby bunker are always up the creek or back in the marina. Shad of course, blueback herring, adult bunker, mummichogs, silversides, grass shrimp, sand eels, snapper blues, baby stripers all hang out there.
