View Full Version : Flaptail at MSBA meeting
fishing bum wannabe 11-17-2004, 11:47 PM Great job Steve! I picked up some useful information, assuming you are telling the truth. After all, all fishermen are liars, except for me and you. By the way I know that stretch of beach you and Larry were alluding to. I've fished it many a night in my dreams.
For the rest of you, If you didn't go you missed an informative and entertaining evening with only a little rant about seals. You also missed a great collection of plugs. If you have a chance to listen to or talk with Flaptail, jump at the opportunity. It will be time well spent.
Once again thank you Flaptail for the great evening!
Moses 11-18-2004, 12:13 AM I agree, Flaptail's presentation was great. Being new to surf fishing the outer beaches, I gleaned alot of good information. Thanks Flap.
Secondly, met a bunch of guys from here for the first time. Hope to see you all again.
Lastly, the raffle tables were very generous to me tonite. Lots of prizes with the most valuable being a signed Habs 12" needle!:D Thanks Habs and nice chatting.

Great Speakin' and little hecklin'
It always fascinates me listening to the guys that pass along interesting bits of knowledge learned thru decades in the suds.. Those that make you think and think - thanks Flap!
UserRemoved1 11-18-2004, 06:43 AM Kudos to BasickPatrick too, I thought his little presentation was as good as Flap's..
What was the little white things whizzin by Larry's head?
BEETLE 11-18-2004, 07:31 AM Did they look something like this ??
Great job done by all....... We raised over $1000. for long time member and friend, Joe Ciampa, who had his mobile home heavily damaged in the FL hurricanes.
And lots of us won some nice stuff. :btu:
Thanks to all who donated and bought tickets.
Flaptail 11-18-2004, 07:51 AM Just wanted to say thank you to the M.S.B.A. for having me and especially Bigfish and Patrick. Van it was great meeting you and Beetle, you guys do a great job.
I would also like to thank Bassmaster, Slip, JHABS, Salty, KarlF and how about that Justplugit drivin' up from Jersey just to hear me, it meant alot to me that you guys came last night.
So little time and so much that could be gone over that I had to limit, pick and choose what to talk about. Hopefully I passed on something you can use.
KarlF, what organization do I belong to now with thw green sticker on my truck? Hope you like the needle, sorry you had to wait for it so long.:D :btu: :thanks:
Backbeach Jake 11-18-2004, 07:53 AM I had a great time last night and learned a lot about beaches that I've been fishing for years! Great job Flap!
Nice meeting you too, you gave a great presentation, really got the blood boiling again.
Sometimes I wish I lived down the cape and I was rich, and I was single and I was..........Opps back to reality......
Although I don't do the surf hardly at all anymore (love my boaty)

Bronko 11-18-2004, 08:44 AM It was probably the most informative fishing presentation I have seen. I wish you could have kept going on. The stories mixed in with the information was excellent. I am already waiting for your next presentation, when you actually name that beach!
Great Job.:D
reelecstasy 11-18-2004, 08:50 AM I also would like to thank Flaptail as well as Patrick and of course MSBA.. I really enjoyed it and took away alot of information as well. As Flap was speaking I couldn't help but think of what a great organization the club is, and how lucky we are to have speakers such as Flaptail share some of their hard learned knowledge. It is a great circle to be in if your passion is striped bass. I would also like mention Patrick, his involvement in goverment affairs is commendable and he is truley a knowledgable advocate of striped bass fishing. I was very impressed with both spearkers last night, thanks alot guys... :claps:...
It was great meeting some more of the members of this site and I look forward to meeting and someday fishing with more
Diggin Jiggin 11-18-2004, 09:07 AM Yesterday's MSBA meeting was the first I attended, and I think everyone did a great job and I learned quite a bit.
I came away from Flaptails presentation realizing just how inadequate my plug collection really is...
Hmmm, now what can I do about that ? :D
Moose Nuckle 11-18-2004, 09:23 AM Thanks Flapp!! Next meeting the members of this site should have name tags on to see who's who. GOOD JOB Flapp!!!
Water Treater 11-18-2004, 09:28 AM Great job last evening, Flap!
You are a real pro and it shows.
Thanks for sharing so many secrets with the guys (and gals) in attendance. This was a meeting not to be missed.
Bill
P.S. Glad to learn that I'm not the only one who lugs around a small arsenal of lures for one night of fishing. I do the same thing on my small boat.
Bronko 11-18-2004, 09:44 AM I shoulda walked around a bit more and met people but I didn't:smash: I am starting to put faces with the names slowly but surely.
BasicPatrick, your governmental regulations information was excellent. You are clearly well versed in that field are an asset to the MSBA.
I also noticed a number of backroom dealings over by the bar where brown bags and assorted wood were swapping hands. All this took place around the Don Corleone of wood....BM. He looked like a dealer surrounded by junkies.:D
Mr. Sandman 11-18-2004, 09:48 AM wow, I feel like I am missing something. Where are these meetings held?
Bronko 11-18-2004, 09:55 AM Just another symptom of the sickness Sandman. Feeling like you "missed" something. hehehe:p
Mr. Sandman 11-18-2004, 09:59 AM Is it time for the "too freekin cold" sb.com meeting yet?
reelecstasy 11-18-2004, 10:06 AM Still no hard water around here yet :)

Karl F 11-18-2004, 12:16 PM WOW, a little sleep deprived today, but it was a fun informative night. Always a pleasure to see you guys, and can always learn something from anybody who has put the time in that Flaptail has.
Good talk, and thanks for the map to "Larry's beach" ;) I'll make it a regular stop from now on, and will post directions and reports regularly ;) (JK, BF)
Flap, You were not alone in acheiving "green sticker status" last night.
bassmaster, slipknot, John R, and Habs, as well as myself, got stickered last night. I'll bore you with all the details behind it, next time we talk, but it is not a bad thing, just a fun group, who likes to fish, and share laughter.....
Justplugit, nice to shake your hand last night, BBJ, Bigfish, Mr. Habs, Slip, Salty, and everybody else, was a fun night... Larry... Thanks for coffee! ---> fishermom! always good to see you...
And bassmaster, thanks for the company on the ride up

Flaptail 11-18-2004, 03:31 PM Don't forget, Larry's Beach is only good on the last three of the incoming and a dandy place for Danny fishing at Daybreak with that corresponding tide!:D ( Larry's gonna hang me, I just know it)

BigFish 11-18-2004, 04:48 PM It has just been uncovered that Flaptail lies during his seminars....when he says "Larry's Beach" what he really means is West Dennis beach!;)
Thanks Flap....you did a great job as always and a pleasure to have you there last night! Great seeing all you guys I already know and meeting the guys I had not met yet!:D I had a great time as always....you guys are truely tops in my book!:btu:
Why do I keep hearing things whizzing by my head?
UserRemoved1 11-18-2004, 04:53 PM Flap I have a question for you?
On Saturday October 13 2005 at 4:17pm in the canal on a west tide with a slight cloud cover, 13 mph breeze from the northwest and intermittent rain showers, googans all around, what plug and what color would you throw?
What if it was an east tide?
What if there was an asteroid on a collision course with earth?
What if it there was a change in wind direction....which color?
:laughs:
justplugit 11-18-2004, 04:54 PM Acolades to all:hihi:What more can be said than it's a priviledge to spend time with "the best of the best" who always keep ya learnin and make ya feel welcome:D Thanks:)

Flaptail 11-18-2004, 06:47 PM Two!!!!!!!:D
Swimmer 11-18-2004, 07:47 PM Flaptail when you mentioned MacReeds bait shop last night I almost fell out of my seat. When I was a kid my we had a place in Eastham down by First Encounter Beach. I used to wander through the woods in the area which the area mostly was, woods that is, and pick beach plums and take them to MaCreeds to sell them and buy fishing equipment before I left. He used to wholesale the beach plums out to people who would then make the jelly. If I filled up the shopping bag I'd make about seven bucks. That was in the late 50's earlry 60's. I used to bum around North Beach with my buddie and his father who had a place out there. I never caught any big bass but I saw many carried up the beach to waiting vehicles to make the trip to the Chatham Co-op.
Blurple is now a color in a box of crayola crayons.
fishermom 11-18-2004, 09:57 PM Steve, that was a most informative presentation :) Now if I can only remember some of it in the spring !! John Cherico and Beetle, thank you for conducting the raffle for our friend Joe. Great job !!! I was so happy to actually win something!! I came home with 3 of Salty's Plugs (thank you so much SB for your donations) plus a few others. Thank you John R. and who ever else donated to the table for Joe.....Karl, it's always a pleasure to see you..........BM, words can't describe you....Habs, nice to meet you and thanks for your donations....And yes Patrick, you did an awesome job !!! You do know your stuff ..........For those of you who missed all this fun, go to MSBA.net and get the meeting schedule. The meetings are usually the 4th Wednesday of the month unless a holiday or other outing conflicts. If you are not already a member, come to a meeting as a guest and check it out. You will love it and then you will join and reap all the benefits. The December meeting will be on the 17th and it a pot luck get-together. It's a great time to come and chat with people. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you......
