I went out to the reef last night and I saw a fresh fish walking the jetty next to the reef. I knew he was a fresh fish because he was casting over the reef and there was maybe 7 inches of water.

Anyways, I was looking at his set up. He had some lowriding waders, past his waist but not really chest waders. They went maybe an inch above his navel. His rod still had the plastic wrap on the grips and all. No surf belt, no light, no pliers as I found out and no korkers.

What would I do if he fell in? He was maybe 5'9" and if he had fallen off the deep side, his waders would have filled up but his head wouldn't have gone under. Of course being the good guy I am, I would help him but there is a limit. I can't put myself at risk. (A rescue is only a rescue if everyone goes home safe). I just find it bothersome. So what should I do? Where do I draw the line?

By the way, the guy hooked up with a 19 inch striper, fought it all wrong and still managed to get it in. I got the big skunk.
