Interesting note is I just got back from a Cub Scout tour with my son....Uxbridge wastewater treatment plant.... Water output is undrinkable...dumping into Blackstone river....and people wanna clean the river up :smash: yea right. capesams 11-20-2004, 09:25 PM boston outflow=mung in cape cod bay and the back side beaches. Karl F 11-20-2004, 10:05 PM ;) I thought eating bad seafood gave ya the "sea squirts" had that once, it's horrible........... But seriously..... the end result of almost any "treatment" facility is still something that is questionable.... I remember years ago, before the Tri-town septic treatment plant was built here in Orleans, the so called expert said at the town meeting, that at the end of the treatment line you could put the water in a glass, and it would be potable.... I will never forget old Mel Mayo, a real character in town, miss guys like him, anyway, he stood up and said "Mister, I will call you about a month after you open, take you up on that tour your offering, and I want to watch YOU drink that water"..... whole town meeting burst into laughter ... the thing that got me was the town voted to build it, on marsh land (!!) bordering Namskaket creek, that exits into CC bay near Skaket beach, Town, State, and Feds all signed off on it, no fight, zip, zoom, passed, buy the land and build it... course the engineering firm that the Town hired "happened" to own the land never raised any concerns........ anybody who spoke against it, got shut up quick... another thing that Mel said at that town meeting, after the discussion and the vote... "Mr. Moderator, if you ask me, this whole thing STINKS!".... got laughs, but he was right... CC Bay, outfall pipe from Boston, and direct fed treated crap outta Namskaket creek.......... funny, that area is "closed" to shellfishing now... wonder why, if that treated "water" is supposed to be "potable" :af: Jenn 11-21-2004, 08:19 PM Just because wastewater passes the allowed limit DOESNT mean it is completely free of contaminants!!!!! thats all I can say about that!
