It's all about $$$$ nowadays!:af: UserRemoved1 11-30-2004, 11:58 AM RIGHT ON! I hate xmas. It is the most trashed holiday I ever seen. People think plastic statues and 10,000 lights in their yard means xmas. Originally posted by Gloucester2 Christmas sucks fishaholic18 11-30-2004, 12:04 PM Unfortunately, most people have forgotten the meaning of Christmas.:( ThrowingTimber 11-30-2004, 12:59 PM Bah Humbug:mad: Jimbo 11-30-2004, 01:26 PM Wish you'd have started this about a week ago. I hate that some people disregard Thanksgiving and jump right into gaudy Christmas lights and decorations like it was some sort of contest losing sight of what it's really all about. fishweewee 11-30-2004, 02:30 PM Sick of all the f***ing X-mas music on the radio, and all the foney-baloney shopping craziness. Buy this, buy that. BOSH! Where is the true meaning of X-mas besides retailing? BTW, Jesus was likely born in the spring time according to most biblical scholars. What we are celebrating now is a glossed-over pagan holiday called Saturnalia. Christmas in December is SUCH A FRAUD! Peace on Earth and goodwill to all men. BAH HUMBUG! I say peace through superior firepower. capesams 11-30-2004, 09:48 PM merry kiss my a$$ MAC 11-30-2004, 09:55 PM Originally posted by capesams merry kiss my a$$ :laughs: oops I mean Bah humbug:smash: Raider Ronnie 11-30-2004, 09:55 PM Most retail stores depend on this stupid holiday for a huge chunk of their yearly sales!!! As stupid a holiday that christmas is, I think New years is just as stupid!!! Just another reason for a lot of people to get drunk Notaro 11-30-2004, 10:40 PM i goddamn hate xmas already! im just having a holiday blue, men. i never had a merry one until i thought that i might have one with my ex-gf. i never have celebrated a xmas with a person whom i love and share those freaking sappy winter romantic moments and romps, but guess not! its like i have been pricked int eh arse by the god. and also i kept getting cheap gifts from ym relatives while we give the expensive ones to their children! goddamn greedy people they are. and my aunty betty always keep pushing us around to host a xmas party because she and other aunts dont want to do the works!!! tynan19 11-30-2004, 11:03 PM I think Christmas has been far removed from what it is meant to be. As most of us have come from large Baby Boomer families it is harder and harder to see your family in whole. Christmas leads to so much stress that people often oversee the true meaning of bringing everyone together. I myself enjoy seing my Aunts and Uncles and Cousins that I have not seen since last year. Sorry fishweewee 12-01-2004, 08:51 AM Originally posted by capesams merry kiss my a$$ Yeah, what Capesams said. :af: IF I GET ONE MORE STINKIN' TIE FOR X-MAS.... WTF... all about jing, not jing-a-ling, just plain jing$$$$$ whole thing's blown outta proportion, now-a-days FishermanTim 12-01-2004, 03:09 PM I don't hate the season as much as I hate that it been so commercialized. I put my energy into trying to make it enjoyable for my nieces and nephews. I can't stay in a "bah-humbug" frame of mind, since I have to play St. Nick at a couple of functions. I try to emphasise the simpler joys of Christmas, like watching some of the older Xmas specials, visiting friends, and enjoying my relatives. Then it's time for ice fishing!!!! UserRemoved1 12-01-2004, 04:14 PM LIONEL trains.....oh does that bring back memories.....O gauge....I got one in mint condition from 1960's wonder what it worth now  Used to set that up every year....then the transformer went bad and we never had enough money for a new one....til I found one on freekbay for $20 one day...it's with the set now.....THAT was xmas... No video games, no freekin madonna cd's, no plastic statues in the front yard, no 300,000 lights on anything that is not moving...no processed turkies homemade everything, FRESH turkey.....mmmm chris L 12-01-2004, 04:25 PM I hate christmas and all the phonies out there . My poor kids never got to spend a christmas like we used to when we were their ages . I hate shopping ! watch the closer we get to the day the more the retailers will complain about how sales havent reached their projections for this year . who cares ! FishermanTim 12-01-2004, 06:10 PM You hit the nail on the head, Chris. My response when I hear the retailers gripe about the lack of consumer spending I say "How is that MY problem?" I spend my money on important things, and the latest "gadget" isn't one of them, nor is this year's "hot lip-synching" phoney. I like the classic Christmas, decorating the tree while listening to the proper music, drinking hot cocoa, and schnapps, and let the children enjoy themselves without breaking ornaments. Gameboy?, Britney Spears?, Ipods? ......NEVER! give me Cribbage, The Rat Pack, and Etch-a-sketch anytime. Jimbo 12-02-2004, 10:34 AM Don't allow your distaste for the over-commercialized and often stressful side of Xmas get in the way of the traditional and religious side of Christmas. You can "just say no" to the former and still enjoy the latter like the little kid that's in all of us. (Oh yea, in case you forgot , you're already one candle late on the old Advent wreath). kippy 12-02-2004, 09:16 PM Originally posted by chris L I hate christmas and all the phonies out there . If I see one more report about holiday sales I'm celebrating Festivus! :smash: Now where is my Festivus pole? The Iceman 6 12-03-2004, 02:31 PM AND to we really have to buy every god damn relative and family member a freakin' gift? :smash: hooked 12-03-2004, 05:56 PM Getting a sitter tonight so my wife and I can go out.
