Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone out there can suggest a good north shore boat ramp? My main concern is to do some lobstering, I have ten traps and I was hoping someone can suggest a good spot.

Right now I live in the Rowley/Newburyport area.

Have you done this before? If not I'wouldn't drop more than 3 traps to start, and start shallow, no need to pull anymore than you have to.

First off,

I would just like to thank Krispy, he has definatley given the best info so far and for that I thank you.

This is not the first time dropping traps. While I was in college I pulled them twice a week on the cape. However, I just moved back from CA and I have decided to start up the hobby again. I now live in the North Shore and I'm just unaware of the best spots to place them without ticking everyone off.

Does anyone know any good boat ramps on where they would suggest in the Newburyport/Rowley area? Thanks again for everyone who replied.

Well, the only public ramps in the area are Cashman Park in Newburyport and Salisbury Beach State Reservation on the Merrimack and the Ipswich town landing on the Ipswich River.

The ramps in Rowley and Newbury are for town residents only.

I started putting a few traps out this year and had pretty good luck; especially later in the yr. One thing that worked out for me this yr was that I put out the traps separately; 1 trap w/ 1 buoy. This eliminates most problems with the commercial guys laying their traps over your lines or visa versa. I also kept away from high traffic areas and didn't lose a trap.
