View Full Version : recent report in fisherman
Mr. Sandman 12-10-2004, 01:52 PM Wow I just read the Charleston report in the fisherman (Dons report)...sounds like they had a couple of hot late nov days down there....
I was not there but when I hear reports to the effect of...this was the best striper fishing I have ever experienced in many years...there is some hope for next season. That was the best report I have read in that magizine all season long.
kippy 12-10-2004, 01:54 PM I read that report as well Jim..I guess I hung it up too early. Anyone else see that action last week?
rhodyflyguy 12-10-2004, 03:11 PM was in it. what, you think i was bsing you guys 2 weeks ago with the herring are here thread?
Striperhound 12-10-2004, 03:37 PM For those who were casting the Monday to Thursday of Thanksgiving week there was a good push of big fish from Gansett to Charlestown. Many 20lb fish for the few that were there. Nice end to the season.
RIJIMMY 12-10-2004, 03:50 PM I read the report on OTW, it was from a boat, not surf, I think?
cheferson 12-10-2004, 04:00 PM The report was from a boat. But i do concur on the large thanksgiving week. I know of a 23 lb a 41lb from pt.jude.Gannets were right on the shore turkey day in gansett. Saw a pretty massive swirl with in casting range, but not a bump on my danny.:(
kippy 12-10-2004, 04:07 PM I think it was Iron Mike who had the 23 and 41 pounders..I should have been out there. :(
Both Goosefish and myself took a fish in the 30's durring that period :hee:
cheferson 12-10-2004, 04:27 PM On da boat:confused:
kippy 12-10-2004, 04:28 PM Boat fish don't count Eben..except mine..
:laughs:
yup on a boat.. and while those fish may not count, the multiple 30's we landed from shore this year do :bshake:
Mr. Sandman 12-10-2004, 05:24 PM Thats great, I am just glad to see'm like that (again) (in the late season). Lets hope its lasts more then a few days next season. (if the NC comms don't scoop them all up during the winter)
The problem was that these bass were keyed in on atlantic herring and atalantic herring dont like to come in close to shore. It was a nice way to end the season though:D
Roseneath 12-10-2004, 09:57 PM Is there any correlation of a hearty and prolonged “fall run” to next spring’s arrival of stripers? Does it tend to be later?
piemma 12-11-2004, 02:10 PM We got fish 12 to 15lbs on the Block (in the surf) the day after Thanksgiving. There are still a few fish around. I got a 12lb fish Sunday morning in the surf in Narragansett.
spence 12-11-2004, 02:19 PM Paul, your fish would have weighed a lot more if it hadn't burnt so many calories trying to get off my plug moments before :hee:
