All went too quick. However, I think this was only a tease. They just advertised a 2 DVD set going on sale Tuesday. Maybe that'll have a little more in it? bud8fan 12-11-2004, 11:22 PM I agree that it was too short and because of that alot of details were left out, however it was done with alot of class! Brought back alot of memories for me including Feb. 2001. : ( Like Bob said hopefully the DVD will include more! I will be very curious to hear what Teresa and Dale Jr have to say about the movie. "3" still lives on in all true NASCAR FANS bud8fan 12-11-2004, 11:23 PM Originally posted by spence I'm gonna get Bud8fan to tell me all about it  :smash: -spence Jeff, Its gonna cost ya!:D luds 12-11-2004, 11:36 PM I thought it was OK. I would like to see the hightlights that were in the dvd but doubt I will spend the bread. I'm cleaned out from MAC's PIKES. I'm a relatively new fan of Nascar but can tell that the sport has changed since Dale Sr. passed. Hopefully there will be a driver that raises the level again. The points system and rule changes seem to be taking a lot of the appeal of Nascar away. fishaholic18 12-12-2004, 12:37 AM NASCAR:bshake: Clammer 12-12-2004, 12:43 AM F-18 go @#$% yourself :smash: let them all stay home on Sundays /// we,ll fish :laughs: fishaholic18 12-12-2004, 12:49 AM Clam, you're telling me to go #@$! myself a lot lately. "3" still lives on in all true NASCAR FANS I would agree that it was to short amount of time to squeeze a lifetime into. It also brought back memories of that time as I was present and seated 12 rows up from where his car initially hit the wall. Taking a day from fishing to watch race is the only way I would ever have it.There are six other days in the week to fish only one day to race. Jenn 12-12-2004, 02:38 PM I think NASCAR has such an appeal because sunday isnt only "race day" its an opportunity to kick back with friends/family. And while many of us will never meet a nascar driver or know them personally its no different than our local races where we would support a father, cousin, sister, brother, neighbor etc. Though I wasnt around during my fathers car racing days but I was for the snowmobile racing days, just as happy as he when he won and just as down when he lost. I believe the same holds true for our favorite "celebrity"racers. And the more passionate the racer the more fans they will have...this is why Dale Sr. will always live in the hearts of NASCAR fans!!!! Clogston29 12-12-2004, 03:13 PM I was disappointed. Seemed like they had an idea and rushed to get it out in time for xmax and didn't take the time to get it right. example - Dale used the "...just tried to rattle his cage alittle bit..." about a wreck with Terry Labonte, not DW. By the way Luds48, Johnson Sucks (j/k) bud8fan 12-12-2004, 11:10 PM ........ the rattle his cage quote was used more than once in Dale's life!! Clogston29 12-13-2004, 08:46 AM Sorry, my mistake. I read that somewhere and noticed while watching on of the classic races that was on during the day before the race so I repeated it without knowing everthing. As far as the movie goes, I watched it again last night and, while I know it was only two hours and you can't fit a lifetime into that, they just left too much interesting stuff out. A couple of examples are that his rivalry with DW developed into friendship, the rivalry with Gordon, how he got the lucky penny, etc. Raider Ronnie 12-20-2004, 08:17 PM Has anyone here bought or watched the dvd of this movie? I'm not really a racing fan and don't know a lot obout nascar, But after watching the movie on ESPN more than a few times I'm interested in seeing more!!! bud8fan 12-20-2004, 08:26 PM Ronnie, I too am interested in the DVD. Funny thing is that it seems that ESPN has sole rights to distribution of the DVD. At least thats the only place I found that had it for sale? I have been a diehard "Earnhardt" fan since I was 7 yrs old and am dying to see the extra footage! DVD is selling for $29.99 through ESPN.com if your interested. I will order myself a copy after the holiday's. If you really want to learn about the "Man" I would suggest you read the book titled "3" you can get a copy via amazon.com. Just do a search for "3". Happy Holiday's Russ Raider Ronnie 12-20-2004, 08:30 PM I think I could be turned into a Redneck!!!:laughs: bud8fan 12-20-2004, 08:35 PM Stick with me Ronnie and I will show you the way!!!! Charlotte,Dover,Richmond or Bristol would be nice. spinncognito 12-21-2004, 04:48 PM should this thread be in the sports section? Wait, a bunch of cars going around in a circle, occasionally killing someone, is that a sport? I don't get it. basswipe 12-21-2004, 04:51 PM Originally posted by spinncognito should this thread be in the sports section? Happy Holidays! bud8fan 12-21-2004, 05:29 PM Basswipe, If you decide to venture out and see another race I would suggest Richmond as I wont even bother going to Loudon since I went there! My next two choices would be Bristol at night or Charlotte at night! spinncognito 12-21-2004, 05:39 PM Originally posted by bud8fan Let me guess? Happy Holidays! Yes, I would rather watch paint dry than people die. I thought I was adding to the discussion. You just have a different view than I. I hate golf. I like to catch bass. respectfully, spinn basswipe 12-21-2004, 09:16 PM Originally posted by spinncognito Yes, I would rather watch paint dry than people die. respectfully, spinn Well lets see....football players have died from spinal and neck injuries.Baseball players have been killed by pitches.Boxers by one to many punches.Soccer players have died in riots.Even golfers have died from lightning strikes.By your logic you mustn't watch any sports.Oh yes quite a few fisherman have died from lightning and drowning.Better give up bass fishing,it could kill ya. Everything we do can kill ya.Once you realize that life ain't so hard or so bad. Happy trails. Vectorfisher 12-21-2004, 09:27 PM I love racing all the strategy, pit work, and qualifying times within a thousands of a second determining starting on the pole and 2nd or 3rd, and then to go to a place like Daytona and actually stand there listen and feel 42 cars go by at 190 MPH is just awesome!! I need to get to Bristol bad anyone got tickets?? spinncognito 12-22-2004, 07:54 AM Originally posted by basswipe Well lets see....football players have died from spinal and neck injuries.Baseball players have been killed by pitches.Boxers by one to many punches.Soccer players have died in riots.Even golfers have died from lightning strikes.By your logic you mustn't watch any sports.Oh yes quite a few fisherman have died from lightning and drowning.Better give up bass fishing,it could kill ya. Yep, you are right, anything we do can kill us but it is far more often that race car drivers are killed. I do not have the statistics but I would not be surprised if three times as many die on race tracks than football, baseball, soccer, golf and fishing combined. I just do not like or get the sport and apologize for hijacking this thread to express that opinion. Obviously NASCAR is huge county-wide and my opinions are in the minority. Have a happy (and safe) Holiday! spinn basswipe 12-22-2004, 03:18 PM Originally posted by spinncognito Yep, you are right, anything we do can kill us but it is far more often that race car drivers are killed. Have a happy (and safe) Holiday! spinn Of all the sports you mentioned more fisherman are killed nationwide than all the other activities combined.Fishing from slippery rocks or in heavy surf.Lightning.These account for many deaths.Far far more people fish than any of the other activities combined. As far as pro sports go you very well may be correct. In NASCARs top three national divisions five drivers that I'm aware of have died ON THE TRACK in the 25yrs I've been a fan.Neil Bonnet,Tony Roper,Kenny Irwin,Adam Petty and Dale Earnhart.Others such as Alan Kulwicki and Davey Allison died off the track.Fans have died at races also.If I missed anybody my sincerest apologies. PS.On a regional level Tommy Baldwin Sr. was killed this year during a NASCAR Featherlite Modified series race at Thompson. chris L 12-22-2004, 03:26 PM I have nothing to add other than russ is a redneck ! If the drivers want to drive and they know they might die doing it , then Im watching it even in super slo-mo . just like when I wade the surf at night alone , I know I might die but I do it anyway . its their choice ! watch it or not thats your choice ! bud8fan 12-22-2004, 10:17 PM Originally posted by chris L I have nothing to add other than russ is a redneck ! :humpty:  vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
