What would keep you from YOUR Fall run???

...I mean unless you fellas are stinkin rich...or can fish whenever you like....then this doesn't apply to you....( Luckeee bass-studs )

Will you allow the weather, tides, water conditions...wind...etc..(all the elements--excluding the women in your life...cuz they have a way of stopping us sometimes... ) ..from fishing???

...I used to fish with a guy who wouldn't fish unless the conditions were perfect...(to me there is no perfect) but ..anyway, ...

..With the Fall run happening...would you risk staying home because the tide wasn't right, and then not be able to go (due to work/women)..when the tide was right...???

...I mean DangHitt , I go when I can...and its often :D ..but the conditions are not always there...my free time doesnt always co-exist with the "perfect" conditions...but you bet your bA$$...I'm not staying home on a Saturday night in October because the tide wasn't exactly as I'd like it...

...Bottom line....and I express this to everyone......

ya CAN'T catch fish at home....period!!

...how many times have you heard of people catching fish in July at high noon...from the rocks/shore?...hardly right?...cuz theres no fish? maybe...but maybe also cuz your not there to catch it!!
..there was a guy who landed a 40# this season in July off a dock ...A DOCK!!...and he was just killing time he said.... ...he wasn't killing time.....HE WAS FISHING!!..not home...playing UNO with his ol' lady...

...anyways...:D ..eyes just curiious...if I was alone on this...seeing as how you fellas seem to know a bit about this fishkin stuff..

and ummmm......that guy I fished with...never did particularly well on those "perfect" nights... ..

I'd like to add one note to that .....before ya get on me back about it.....

I understand that there are much better times/conditions than others ....but during the Migration...would you risk it???

Bloo - I have no choice. I work 50 hours or so a week with a 20 hour commute. I get to go when I can go. I've spent half of my time this year in lousy conditions, so I can relate... I have not had a vacation this year (and ain't gonna have one either) and just crap, crap, crap... Never gonna catch fish with a dry line...

I agree with John - Anytime is a good time to fish.

NTL, it is a (very annoying) fact that some spots are just infinately better on one tide or another. IOW, you could be wasting your time on in the incoming when you should be there on the out going and visa-versa.

It's one of those fustrating things of fishing life. ;)

JohnR

Jaiem - it's more of just when I have the opportunity to go. Between being sick alot since April and hours at work - just not many times to ideal places with ideal conditions - not to mention not straying too far from the truck

I keep buying my lottery tickets, so I can be one of those bass-tards your refer to :), but my ship hasn't come in yet. Since I run my own one man business, I'm a little better off than those that have to punch a clock for someone else, that is until I start feeling like I need a vaction :(. Pro's and cons, but I try to get out once, sometimes twice a week and it's usually about when I have free time, not when the conditions are right. As a boater, the "right" conditions aren't as critical to me, except from a safety point of view.

I only fish when it's 80 - 85 with a sight off shore breeze. I pack a full picnic basket a beach blanket and a nice bottle of red wine.

If you don't go you'll never know.I don't live near anything.Every time I go fishing it's an expedition.I gotta either just go or try to guess when and where blind.Once I figure out a pattern to the fishing I can be more selective as to when but even then I'm just guessing.Forget where... I know where,When is what counts.

Time to fish CT waters till next spring . When is the weather bad on block so I can go there too . I fish when my job and daughters allow . My wife doesnt care , she sees me in the winter !

There are always "Prefered Conditions" for me at certain locations. The way I see it, You can always find somewhere productive to fish no matter of the wind, tide, time. There are certain spots that I will fish on a Honkin' Noreaster', there are certain spots I will fish on a NW wind, and different spots that I will fish on Southerly winds. Now certain tides plus winds will dictate where I will fish...

I think that if you know the area that you fish you cant go wrong. inlets are a great example, fish the incoming at the mouth chase them up stream and work them back out.
I am only able to fish the coast maybe twice a year so come h-ll or high water, rain, sun, winds or whatever hits I am on the water.

.....:) ..I must say, its nice to hear there are no wussssies here....

...Ken (C.H.)...very true...but still ..some nights are very far-fetched, with work dictating how long you can stay out...and all'...

...but after spending the night with ya, you've proven to me...that I'm not alone..this addiction is a strong one...

..I've tried diluting my habit with an occasional bowling trip or chicken chasing....and sometimes cow tippin'...but at the end of the night I always end up with my rod in my hand ..:D one way or the other...

..Men, Keep up the good work...time is short, cows are fat...and if you blink too many times ....ITS OVER!!!

What keeps me away. Hmmm

Well most of my fishing is done on instinct. If I don't have the feeling then I don't go or I go and I quit early. I live close enough to the beach that I can tell the conditions. I've also been fishing for so many years, I can take a look at the sky and feel the wind and have a pretty good idea of what's gonna go down.

The other thing that also makes me stop is lightning. Graphite and Lightning are not a good mix. Add to that I'm 100 yards off shore and the highest point is me or the rod, you can see why I call it quits.

The good thing about the reef is as long as the wind is perpindicular, you can find a side to fish.

The one other thing that makes me stop fishing is crowds. The reef isn't too much of a problem because when it's high, only people out there are fishermen. When it's low, you have enough room to cast although it can get tricky if there are fly guys there. But the beach and the fake jetty can be rough. Walkers are all around. Then on the beach, you have dogs, walkers, horses, and little kids. It can get complicated. I try to find a quiet spot but if I can't, I can't and I might as well pack it in.

You can almost always catch crap at a discharge pipe too...

Do you believe that you are THAT SKILLED, that you can fish on INSTINCT?

(I'm looking for an image of that cartoon with the dog crying because it's laughing so hard and rolling around on the ground pounding it's fists in hysterics - if anyone has that please put it here and then send it to me - thanks)

I consider myself to be very AVERAGE in skill and instinct and I've had some incredible fisherman take me under their wings and show me the ropes PLUS having MANY more hours on the water than you - but hey, I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree. I'm truly amazed that after your reading all of these books and complaining that there are never any fish in your area (not that you went very much to find that out on your own) and that you have accumulated that vast amount of knowlege in so few hours on so few trips to so few places that you have the STONES to say your "INSTINCT" can tell you when to stay in or go. I'm impressed. I might just need to turn the keys to the site over to you. ;)

OK - Serious question, do you forget that when you post malarkey like this, people snicker uncontrollably? Or is it just some urge to let the fingers hit which keys they want without thought? Come on - which is it???

I think everyone would be FAR MORE IMPRESSED if you started DOING instead of TYPING it. capiche??

C'mon Pat just go when you can. You never know when fish show up. You can narrow it down with YEARS of experiance using tides, wind direction, and other variables but getting out as much as possible is the best way. There are times when that instict thing does hit me but I'll be wrong as often as I'm right. Just get out!

Instinct, yep. That's what I use. I'm not saying it's based on skill. It's about being in touch with nature. Going back to a more primitive side. A while back, I came to the conclusion fish act on instinct, why shouldn't I?

When we were in Rhode Island. Mindi and I moved off to the front of the shop to just chill on the front stoop. I told her I didn't want to go. Wanna know why? I didn't have the feeling. And whattya know? The big skunk.

I'm not saying it's 100% accurate but it's accurate enough to where I trust it.

I put ALOT of time in fishing for striped bass and I can tell you this, Many, Many times I have been proved wrong. I have caught some of my biggest Bass on nights were I wasn't motivated because of the weather and tides. But you know what, stripers don't read the Striper Handbook and many times they are not where YOU think they are supposed to be. Yes, as I stated earlier there are places that I prefer to fish on certain tides and winds that increase you're odds on a cow. You do have to be out there to catch fish, NOBODY can say it doesn't feel right and guarantee that there are no fish around. I can pretty much ALWAYS find atleast A Fish on Any given night from April through November regardless of conditions, (Even if "IT DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT"), just depends on where I feel like driving to. What's getting Skunked?

If your not wetting a line you can't catch them, just wish I had the luxury of all the time in the world, maybe then I could use my instincts :) to pick the right days/tides/winds/locations. Until then, I grab the fishing time I can and consider myself lucky.

Well well well.

Since we like to attack people on other boards because we lack the nuts to do so. This is what my mom calls, "Sinking to their level"

If I make a post, I fess up to it. The live lining method is called the Dog-Run method. Second, THE KAYAK AT THE RACE POST WAS NOT MINE! Jesus Christ. The Race is all the way up the freaking CT coast. Most of you know I don't drive. Do you think I'm going to paddle up there or perhaps sprout wings and fly my ass there?

Why the hell would I go to the race when I have plenty of great fishing spots here? Middle ground, Sunken Island, the Dumping grounds, Can 18, the spindle, Black Rock Harbor, Bridgeport Harbor, Southport, Mill river inflow, Penfield Reef and Tidemill bridge. Why would I paddle to the Race?

I just don't get SOL. For as much as they don't like me, they keep talking about me like Mindi said. For all I care, all those people who say the negative stuff can go screw themselves.

Now me fishing. As I recall. Who was it fishing when everyone else was sitting on the rocks talking? Me and Mindi and RedCrbber tossed an eel for a while. Who was it suiting up when you guys said central beach or east beach was too big to fish? I believe it was me, Mindi, Saltheart and Smokey. (It should be noted that Saltheart and Smokey actually stayed) Who was one of the first to suit up when everyone else was saying the waves in front of the Andrea were too big? Could that be me again? Gee, I think it was. I only called it quits when I saw the birds moving out. And yes, Mindi and I had to leave early because Chris was nice enough to drive us to Fairfield and we had to be up early the next day. We felt enough of an inconvienance as it was, we didn't want to see Chris wait around for us to get our ducks in a row.

I'm not saying my instincts are perfect. I'm not saying I'm perfect. And I'm not saying the fish always cooperate. And I'm definitely not saying I'm the best angler around. But I truly believe that when I hook up, it's more then luck. I take into account what time of year, what time of day, tide, wind, skys, presence of bait, presence of birds, and everything else that surrounds me. That's what I'm referring to when it comes to instincts. Anyone that has fished for a while, knows MOST of the time, fish act in patterns.

And yes, sometimes I do fish when I don't have the feeling and yes, sometimes I hook up when I don't have the feeling that there are active fish.

It's a sad world these days when people have to go behind ones back and crack jokes. That's called being a freaking coward. Grow a set.

Allright guys, I think maybe we have gone adrift here.

I can take a little ribbing. I can have a wicked sense of humor. Hey, when I was shown the picture of the tuna caught in the Ditch, I even laughed. I have nothing against a little joking and I can take it. In fact, when I read all the responses on here, I laughed.

Now when you put this over on the other site, it turns from joking, to malicious slamming. I know it's hard for you guys to see it because all of you can still post over there. I can't. Over there, it's an open free for all.

So let's end it with this. I am a fisherman. I believe in my instincts. If you don't, then don't. What do I care?

Cowhnter,

I have nothing against you. In fact, I have nothing against anyone really but those that insist on perpetuating trouble over on SOL. None of them know me. The ones I've met up in Rhody would probably agree I'm a cool tempered guy, quiet, and kinda shy. It's just when these people take shots at me for no other reason but to draw attention to themselves, it kinda annoys me. It's hard to believe but I really don't like the attention. I fish my way and I'm not asking anyone to change, just saying how I do it. Guys were pissed when I was dishonest, now guys crack jokes when I'm honest. It's a no win situation.

BTW, I usually do best when it is rough. That's when I get the feeling there are fish around.

Patrick82
10-23-2001, 10:37 PM
Jenn, I didn't see your post until I finished my last one.

I always have fun when I fish. Doesn't matter if I catch or not. The friends, the people I meet, or even just getting out there by myself stretching the muscles. It all feels good. I'm not going to deny catching doesn't feel great too. I honestly believe salt air is a therapeutic for me. As soon as I smell the salt (even though I can't from my house because of all the traffic on the nearby streets), once I do, it's heavenly. Makes me forget all the troubles.

I'm not talking about fair. If I was talking about fair, I would say, here some folks bring what I say here, over there where I can't respond while anything I say here, they can respond. That's not fair in my opinion but I'm not talking about fair.

What I'm talking about is what's right. Allright, what I say, some would consider assinine. But here, DaveS brings what I said over there. DaveS was the first to link people from "there" over to here in this incident. Isn't HE the one who is guilty of starting the mingling between both sites? You get a dozen or more people taking pot shots at ya, and you have to retaliate. No one goes for that "bigger person" junk anymore. I tried that. Look at the negative campaigning political candidates do. No one values the bigger person anymore. People value who can kick someone in the marbles.

I just don't see why my wrist is being slapped. I didn't start this. I posted honestly and Dave decided to bring it over there. He caused the problem on his own terms. Shouldn't he be the one getting his wrist smacked?

And Slipknot, no two wrongs don't make a right. But if being wrong is what it takes to defend myself, well so be it.

Karma folks, Karma. Stuff comes back to haunt you and even if I'm kicked off of every website in the world, I'll be in shadows laughing when they get theirs.

Patrick---if you persist in making an ass of yourself publicly, people are going to persist in laughing at you. It's really all that simple.

I know DaveS. He's a tough, dedicated fisherman who's been tonging big bass since before you were born. You have any idea of how tough he is physically, how hard on the body it is to jig up big bass from a place like the Highlands Bridge? Or what a beating a guy takes on a REAL jetty in rough conditions? When you post crap---and that's what it is---about Knowing "instinctively" based on "all your years of fishing" (yer 19 years old, fer godsakes, how much "experience" do you honestly think you have???) when it's a waste of time to go---you're fair game for guys with 30 years or more under their belts to tell you you're as full of it as all of us here are trying to tell you in a nice way.

There's a lot of crossover between this site and SOL. Lots of guys are cross registered, and there's even more who read this board and don't bother registering. The whole internet is an open book. You have to know that when you make a public fool of yourself, there's gonna be a backlash at other sites. How long is it going to take you to learn that one, simple fact?

For most of the two or so years you've been an internet "presence" you've basically regurgitated things that you've read as representing your personal experince, and throw out half-cocked ideas that John, in his infinite patience, lets you eat gracefully. You still do the same things on WMI because most of the people there are clueless. I still lurk there, too, and you always seem to avoid adding the disclaimer "so I've read" or "I've been told" whne you pass along tips to guys in Texas or Florida on fishing you know nothing about. Whether you realize it or not, you're a legend around the 'net, Patrick the Wannabe "Expert". Whenever I take a position supporting your reinstatement at SOL, I get a flood of e-mails and PM asking me whether I've lost my mind. Your history precedes you, and IMO it's a case of reaping what you've sowed in the last two years. You don't act the same way here, and I hope it's out of a respect for John and his efforts in trying to keep this board an open, honest forum--but I also wonder if it's partly because you know you can't snow anyone here with blarney.

Patrick told me to let it die. I guess he's becoming the more mature of the two of us...in any case my point was proven. Patrick could be long gone and people will still have nothing better to do than run their mouths. They succeeded in showing everyone that they have nothing better to do that pick on someone half their age who hasn't even been able to post in ages and whom they've never met. That's the funny part of this whole thing. They call patrick a loser with no life, but what does 42 posts about someone they've never met or talked to in ages say about THEM?
By the way, my responses were as mature as their comments. Talking about my 'time of the month' and the size of Patrick's genitalia shows that they lack the capability to understand a mature response anyway.
Now at Patrick's request I'll try to shut up, unless someone says something else that I have a burning need to respond to.

I don't care how tough Dave is. It's not like I'm going to go out and pick a fight with someone over stuff that happens on the internet. Jesus, I'm not 8.

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought I was dealing with grown ups. I guess all some of you care about is waiting for someone, specifically me, to put his neck out a little bit so they can rabbit punch me. If that's how you want to be known, that's fine. You want people to always wonder if they can talk frankly around you without the fear of you running around, that's fine too. It's your life, live it however you want to.

Karma is very real though. One day you'll pay for everything. There is no such thing as a free lunch. One day down the line, you'll look back and regret what you've done because something will happen to you.

Patrick;

If you were fishing, or anything for that matter, and saw someone do something stupid or funny, wouldn't you tell your friends about it and get a 'laugh'? Thats whats happenening here.... you say things that guys read and can't help but laugh....and they share it with other people. Whether its right or wrong is just an opinion. The fact is that most of the stuff you post is funny as hell, sometimes it borders on stupidity. Don't take this as a reason to start a flame war with me, as I'm just trying to point something out to you. I remember what its like to be 19 and KNOW everything. My advice to you is to sit back, read the posts from the veterans, and try to apply it to yourself. I've been fishing for 25 years now and I can tell you I learn stuff everyday just from watching, and then I apply it to myself and sometimes it works.

There is NO WAY you can tell if a given day is going to be productive. It just doesn't happen that way, your dealing with fish. That would be like me saying......"HMMMM, I'm not gonna throw the needlefish today, cause I just 'FEEL' like they are eating steak for dinner tonight." It just doesn't happen! I don't care who you are, theres no way to tell. One day they might hit good when its raining, the next day, in the SAME conditions, they won't. Its a matter of being there, if your NOT there, your NOT gonna catch them! Thats it, its all quite basic.

So my advice to you is......just watch. If you don't have anything worthy to add, don't add it. It will just open you up to comments and people will not like you for it. Learn things from others and go fish! And have a good time when you do go, thats what it is all about.

Don't take this as a bashing post, just read it, see if you agree with anything, and maybe start doing something about it. Good Luck!

P.S. Just wanted you to know that TimS removed the link and put the cuffs on them and told them to stop.

OK - I'm going to be very short and not so sweet.

Patrick - this place does not resolve around YOU and what is FAIR or RIGHT to YOU. Is it right for YOU to post regurgitated material to others who are not so keen to your ways? Is it fair if someone takes a tip of yours and gets skunked or worse - injured? So don't start down THAT PATH. You've used this site in the past to complain of your treatment from other sites and even lobbied for reinstatement and you always play the injured party and that, frankly is BS. Is it RIGHT for me to need to see this crap online?

Mindi - he reaps what he sows. I know you have a lot of respect for the kid and I sincerly hope that he treats you well - he certainly seems to, but don't blindly jump to his defense every time there seems to be an inkling of criticism. If someone continued to lie and boast and talk talk talk, you either ignore it or argue back. Some have chosen to ignore and some argue back. And yep, there is humor in a lot of what he says. It's funny sometimes reading pure BS and sometimes just tiresome. I'm not going to get in a debate over fishing or his or your comments about fishing because I really lack the desire to do so now as I'm a little pissed. See, unlike your hero, I cannot devote time to this thread because I have RESPONSIBILITIES & a JOB that takes precedence over this petty CRAP.

I hope that everyone - especially Patrick - will stop here with this. OK?

Patrick...the problem is I don't think that you have ever fished one hard NIGHT. When you have people here that do hundreds of nights a year, they will laugh at you and call your bluff. Simple as that. Understand that and you will understand their perspective. Fishing a few afternoons a month ain't gonna do it.

Why do you think that me and DaveS were sitting around in the breachway while you were casting. Cause the sun was still up!!! Once it went down and it got dark enough, we fished!!!

When you were in Rhody, and you didn't have to drive back to CT, why did you need to sleep. You can sleep when the sun starts to rise or when you got back on Sunday afternoon, it's not like you had a job that you had to be well rested for. You have to earn the respect of the people here...words aren't going to do it. Stop worrying about tackle, reels and building rods. Go fish at night every damn night for the next two months from 10:00pm (cause that's when it will finally be dark enough) till false dawn with what you have, maybe then you will be taken seriously.

OK, this has gotten way outa hand and that was'nt my intent Patrick, I am sorry, but when you post responses like the one that set this off, you leave yourself wide open to criticism. It was the way you said that stuff, making it seem like you had this keen "Striper sense" and vast amount of bass catching knowledge, that started me up and led to my posting on SOL. If you would just read, listen, and learn what some very experienced anglers have to say in their posts you never would have had these problems, but instead you try to change the rules of bass fishing that were written long ago, and that aint gonna help ya. Yeah, me,Charlie, and a few others were sitting on a rock watching you cast that plug in the breechway that afternoon, matter of fact, I even offered up a tip or two about fishing a plug in heavy current like in a river or inlet, but even after I gave some advice, you continued to retrieve that plug as fast as you could, dismissing my advice like I never even gave it to ya. The key to getting good is to watch and listen to guys that know, pay attention, zip the lip, and learn. Once again, I'm sorry for causing you embarrasment, I hope you can accept my apology, and if ya ever need some advice about them striped fellers give me a shout.
PS, this is what ya can catch reeling slowly in current.....

Patrick its the topics you post about that opens yourself up to this "abuse" Look at the replies and its all in fun, no one is here to hang you. We like to have a little fun on your expense but don't take it seriously. BTW I had the tuna pic and I brought it just for you. I fished hard in Rhody got knocked down by a wave soaked, changed clothes, went to C-Breachway had two waves break over my head then when back and fished while you were going back to the motel, yes I'm dedicated and nuts! Has any other site brought you fishing and has been this generous to you? Hang in there buddy and get you and Mindi to the Ditch and I'll show you how to use that 7000 Abu!:D

but there's just a few things I want to say...my apologies to Patrick for sticking my nose in and to John for adding more crap..

First of all, the reason Patrick posts some ideas that are a little off-the-wall, or tries to help out when someone has a question (even if his responses aren't always 'expert') , isn't because he is trying to be a 'know-it-all', it's because considers you guys his friends and he TRUSTS you enough to take a risk and throw out some of his ideas. Most of the time when he tries to answer a question or give advice,he's really trying to be helpful. If you think his advice is crap, DON'T TAKE IT!
Secondly, Patrick DOES fish. Unlike most of you he doesn't have tons of options as to where he can go. When he talks about 'instinct', if you had read the whole post, you'll see that what he's really referring to is checking out the environment. Something that I saw most of you doing in RI, as well. Usually, if the conditions are poor, you hop in the car and go somewhere else. Patrick doesn't have that option. When I was out there for a week we fished every single day,and the fish just weren't there. It's easy to get frustrated when your only spot is giving you nothing for a while.
Patrick reads books. So what? He didn't have tons of veterans like most of you to hold his hand. He taught himself, through reading and practice. I think he's done a pretty good job at it too.
I think it's shameful and sad to abuse his respect and trust of you to make him look foolish. I know it's not my place to say it and I apologize for that, but I have a real hard time seeing someone I love being made a laughing stock and a punching bag.

As far as him 'deserving it' for his past behavior, how long is long enough? Does he get a 'life sentence' for being a teenager and saying some stupid stuff?

That's all. I mean it this time.;)

UMMMM....EXCUSE ME HERE...MAY I INTERUPT THIS FOR A SEC. ??

...This topic was my first on here, how it ended up like this confuses the heck out of me..

..So I'm taking this as...No. 1 reason to not fish= computer wars

....Pat, your 19 ? ... so what!

..If your experiences have taught you that your "instinct" is dead on, then stick with it, when it starts to fail you, or you read/hear that others are catching way more fishees than you...try some different approaches...
...I found some of the comments made to you...quite HARD myself...( not that having a little fun with someones remarks is bad, but in all fairness...I still found some a bit HARSH...)...I joke alot too...but would never say "anyones" comments or opinions were "Bull-Turd"...( not unless I knew them personally, and they could take it..):D ...

..Now I'm 30 and have fished for over 20 years...how?...daddy started taken me before I was 10....started fishin alone when I hit about 14....used to ride my bike with the pole taped or tied to it, and a tackle bag..shoved somewhere... ( NOT THERE )...
..Now in all my years fishing, I usually never offer advice unless asked for...even if I see someone doing something that I felt wouldn't catch a fish...WHY? you ask...because I've seen some of the weirdest tactics produce...so how can I say it won't work?...because its not the way I do it?....or the way its been done for years...?? Nope, I WILL NOT DISCOURAGE ....ONLY ENCOURAGE!!...

THIS WAS NOT INTENDED TO BE A " LET'S BASH PAT " THREAD!!!

...If I smell garbage in the wind, then I know the garbage truck is comin...maybe Pat can smell fish in the wind... :D

..smile, Pat...be happy...and don't let these fellas get to ya...in the years to come, you'll come up with your own conclusions...

First, I want to say, this isn't to make this thread worse or better, actually I'm trying to close it but I would like to just explain a little something to all of you.

First Dave, why I was fishing that fast in a heavy current. The lure I was using was a Bagley Top Gun. It dives maybe 3 feet at most. It was daytime and I figured any fish that were in there were going to be deep. My train of thought was if I could crank it down deep and let the current keep it there, I could stay in the strike zone muh longer then if I reeled it slow. You know, if I had hooked up doing that, all of you would have been out there doing the same thing.

Second, BM, you are total loon. That's a compliment. You always make me laugh.

Now for everyone:
Up until now, I thought you guys were my friends. I admit it, I'm a moron. I never even saw it coming. I won't be posting here anymore. This isn't a "poor Patrick" speach. I'm letting you know so you can start looking for a new punching bag now. In fact, I won't be much of anywhere online. Once I get mobile, I'll be around. If you see me, your best bet is to avoid me. Know that you aren't my friend. All of you made that decision. Don't say hi, don't even talk to me. If it's important, you know where to e-mail me.

On the off chance that you're serious---as your graduation quiz: deep water, fast current and you think the fish are holding deep. What should be the first thing in your bag---in fact, the only thing---you reach for?

Patrick82
10-24-2001, 11:26 PM
Well I decided to make one more post.

First, none of my bucktails would have held there. No way no how. That water would have required a 3 oz jig if you wanted it to sink where I thought the fish were. I've never had a need for a 3 oz jig in CT.

Second, over on SOL it tells you how many posts are in a thread.

Third, I DID go fishing tonight. I made the walk down there. A nice long walk with my waders, surfjacket, bag, side bag and my rod. I got one good hit from a schoolie on a teaser and my reel broke. It seems when I was relubing my line roller, I didn't tighten it back down enough and it became loose. Not wanting to lose my manual pick up, I called it quits. Seems like someone borrowed my screwdriver and didn't put it back. Tried tightening it with the edge of my knife but that just didn't work. I also tried to use the bend in a hook and the edge of my pliers.

Patrick , you're on self destruct here.

First , if you don't think some 18 year old proclaiming "I've also been fishing for so many years, I can take a look at the sky and feel the wind and have a pretty good idea of what's gonna go down" is funny , just wait till you are 48 and have been fishing stripers 35 years or more. You'll laugh then.

Secondly , telling you not to use this board to feud with other boards has nothing to do with who is friendly with who. Nobody should use the board for that purpose.

Lastly , this statement "If you see me, your best bet is to avoid me. Know that you aren't my friend." is way overboard. Sounds threatening to me but even if its not intended that way , some statements are hard to retract and should never be made in the first place.

In all honesty , I think people here have been very good to you. Far better than you deserve in light of the tone you've taken in this farewell speak.

If you want to go Patrick that's your choice. If you think that you'll show us how much of a man you are by not posting, well - I'd rather see you go fishing first and worry about posting a distant 24th...

You're not a moron, you just NEVER THINK before you say things. You didn't see it coming because you didn't THINK - and obviously, you're not a student of history. And no, we're probably not your friends more like aquaintances with similar  interests. True friendship can be earned over time but is never guaranteed. That friendship is built more or less on respect and trust. It is not something to assume you will recieve. I think I've made some new friends this year as other's have earned my respect and I hope I've earned theirs. Many people will give you an opportunity still to EARN friendship or at least mutual acceptance but you need to EARN it.

Once I get mobile, I'll be around. If you see me, your best bet is to avoid me. Know that you aren't my friend. All of you made that decision. Don't say hi, don't even talk to me.

First off - I truly hope that is not a threat. That would be another unwise decision. If I were to see you while fishing, do you expect me to not fish? To avoid you?

Secondly - if you choose to again join our little group of merry men & women, I wish you do so with a better attitude and with your thinking cap on. Clear? If you are truly going to stop going online, a simple "bye" will be sufficient....

BTW - I had at least one bump on my little 1/2 oz bucktail... Don't need no stinkin' 3OZ where we were

Mama Skunk had two baby boys, IN and OUT.
Whenever IN was in, OUT was out.
Whenever OUT was in, IN was out.
One day, when OUT was in, Mama told him:
"Go find your brother, IN, and tell him to come in.
OUT went out, and returned with his brother almost immediately.
"Goodness, that was fast" said Mama Skunk, "how on earth did you find him so quickly?"
"Easy Mama", OUT replied, "IN stinked"!

(That smell could be low tide, or it could be just a fart in your waders, but if it smells like Apricots, DON'T leave the beach!)

I hope SOMEONE recognizes the Apricot reference!

I don't post on there. I don't tell Mindi what to post. What she chooses to post is up to her although I support whatever she says 100%. That's what couples do.

I'm not admitting I post on there because I don't. I'm a man of my word. If I say I don't post over there, I don't. Her business is her business.

Dave, no one is asking you to be sorry. Just realize, the bed you make is the bed you sleep in. I learned that. No one over there cares about me, I just don't see any other reason why but to poke fun. If you are sorry, I always have room for forgiveness. Like I've said in previous posts, life is too short to hold grudges.

John, I'm not threatening anyone. I'm not asking people not to fish but just realize that I'm not going to be a nice person. I'm not going to be a buddy, I'm not going to shake hands. I'm not doing anything of the sort. I'll acknowledge and I won't be disrespectful but don't expect me to just forget what happened.

If you got a hit, why did you quit fishing the spot so early? That usually tells me to fish even harder. Work on perfecting on what those fish want.

Flounder, sure broken clocks are right two times a day but slow clocks like you are right once in a blue moon. You are way off when you EVEN THINK about playing shrink with Mindi and my relationship. You know nothing about me. You know nothing about her. Maybe that smell is all that hot air escaping from your dome. Sometimes you need to blow the cobwebs out.

Like I said, I'll be around. When one of you slips up and let's not act like it won't happen. I'll be in the shadows laughing.

Have fun kids. Remember Kharma.

I got that hit early on and it didn't exactly turn into a productive afternoon - you EVER want to do a head to head fishing expo - e-mail me...

Ok Patrick - here's the deal. There are only 2 answers - yes or no. So there is zero chance of confusion, your next post (if there is a next post) can have only one of those two - again, to be crystal on this - yes or no. If the answer is yes, try to be nice and think before you offer something prophetic (sp?). If the answer is no, have a nice life.

I have never asked anyone to leave (with the exception of ISPY but that didn't count) and I'm requesting that people DON'T respond and try to influence this either way.

Do you want to be a member of our rag tag army of striper fanatics or not? Simple as that. Yes or no are the only possible answers to the question.

Again - Do you want to be a member of our rag tag army of striper fanatics or not?

I believe there is a Blue Moon this November.

Patrick, you generate enough heat without your spokeswoman blasting every fishing website on the east coast on your behalf!

Geesh! She slammed SOL yesterday and she laying into the members here today, don't you see that? Have you told her about WMI? There are some meanies there too! LOL!

These people here at least like you, you ought to tell your "woman" to shutup for a while and let you fight your own battles.

Women are like buses dude...

Yes

JohnR

The way to answer the question was YES OR NO . Now if you could please go back, remove the jibberish, and reply yes or no. There was no asking for a long explanation. I am saying this as the owner/developer of this site - Yes or No. If you chose yes, we can consider different things but I'm not going to draw up one set of rules for everyone else and one to protect you. So go back, edit, and choose yes or no...

Ever hear about the Maori Charts--give it a shot for your cycle thoughts :)

now, I read and read but did not read either yes or no. What I read were conditional clauses. Hmmmmm, do you mind answering the question?

John, no wonder you and your better half decided to stop with one blessing of a child. You have a full time babysitting job right here it seems. You do have the patience of a saint.
And I thought I had patience untill Monday after delivering and installing a wall unit for the customer from Hell. She was all over me pointing out this and that and being a general pain in my rear. I left without the balance and didn't even tell her when I would return....
I am amazed this thread has gone this far, it should be a research study for a Psychology class.

Thank you...

Milo - the only thing I couldn't convert from the old system to the new was the password - when you are logged in, go to the user control panel (says user cp on top right) and you'll see a button to change the password. Paste your password into the old password field and enter a new easy one to remember in the "new password" & "confirm new password" fields...

Then, under edit options, you can enable cookies to remember your password if you want. Some people don't care and some people want to lurk and don't turn that on....

Thanks DP

I try not to stick my oar in somebody else's pond but this is incredible. Didn't these guys just recently go out of their way to show you hospitality and to give you exposure and a little if you will, "indoctination into the fraternity of fishermen". Were they unfriendly when they provided rides, offered the use of their top quality tackle. Were you and your girlfriend treated rudely.

So now they jump in your oatmeal about a ridiculous and incredibly pompous statement you make and you are so wounded???

Patrick you say you won't forget about what has happened. It seems you have already forgotten the events and actions of just a few days ago. Who should feel wounded Patrick?

All that I can add to the diatribe printed (verbatim) above, is that if Patrick can appreciate a concept as sophisticated as Karma, he surely understands the weight of the tab he has incurred with me. Payback is a B!^@!-!

Funny, I can't recall anyone characterizing him as a "nice person". John does indeed have "the patience of a saint"!

Flounder,

It's funny how you only show up here to cause trouble and very rarely do you post here to help anyone.

I have apologized to you for the mix up on Noreast. Yes, that was my mistake, completely my mistake. I am sorry. I guess we had just left it as a simple mistake, I didn't know you were expecting an apology but there it is if you're still willing to accept it.

Ditch/Mike/Frenchy,

I swear on my life that Zei and Zel are not the same person. My buddy is Zel and I was Zei, which I made to play a prank on him. I don't know how the two got mixed up but we are two seperate people indeed. Swear to God.
