View Full Version : Legal ATV Trails?
partsjay 12-16-2004, 02:43 PM To any of you who ride ATV's, this may even come close to spot burning, but I figured I'd give it a shot anyway. Do any of you guys know where there are any legal places to ride? I was out last week and 7 of us got stopped. We just can't seem to find anywhere to ride. It's a joke that there is no legal places to ride around here, but every town has an ATV dealer in it, so people are riding somewhere. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jay

yeah there touchie down there... you might no but the bogs back there have no workers on sundays. were you near tihonet? theres a small track out there i think?
partsjay 12-16-2004, 02:55 PM It was last Sunday...about 11:30 am...we were way out by the gas lines, past the dump. I know where the track is, we were past that. I've only been out there a few times...looks like its been ridin pretty hard so, I didn't think that there would be a problem. Came around a corner and there was a Warden waiting for us....$ 250 fine each.....ug, just in time for Christmas....guess I'll have to wait on that new Bandsaw I've been eyeing.
mikecc 12-16-2004, 03:24 PM You can no longer ride behind Sea Mass either. The only place around is in middleboro by the UPS over by RT44
Vectorfisher 12-16-2004, 04:35 PM Get rid of the ATV and buy a nice on/off:D Seriously though my cousin just bought 2 brand new ATV's and within an hour he had a nice fat ticket from the Wareham PD he has them for sale already. There are 2 plain clothes officers who I will not name that ride ATV's around in West Wareham just bagging guys, one was riding a 400 ex or similar and the other was riding a utility quad, they play the broken down routine so be careful! I have learned not to stop for anyone I have taught my son this as well, used to be nice to be able to take a nice ride through the woods now you are treated worse than a rapist for crying out loud. I think Freetown has trails for ATV's I know they definately do for bikes.
tynan19 12-16-2004, 04:36 PM If you want to come up to my area there is plenty of riding. I am surrounded by 1000 acres of woods and numerous fire roads and trails. I also have access to 100's of acres of fields. It does suck that they are closing so much land to ATV's. I am lucky though with my sled I can go anywhere. Great trail system up here in N.Central Mass. straight up to NH and VT.
jugstah 12-16-2004, 05:02 PM There's money to be made if someone can go into business with thousands of acres made available to the ATV, 4x4'er for a fee.
mikecc 12-16-2004, 05:45 PM If you charge a fee you are lible.
Rappin Mikey 12-16-2004, 05:57 PM You know Rick and I are Bombardiers.
UserRemoved1 12-16-2004, 06:15 PM uxbridge motorsports park.... rt146a
But I think the guy is a richardhead cuz he's makin so much noise there you can hear it 2 miles away.. Not at my house but I pity the people who live next door.....
RickBomba 12-17-2004, 08:47 AM Richardhead huh salty?
Almost bought an enduro ten years back...decided not to when they started giving tickets in Western Mass...It's more woods out there than roads!
WHAHAPPENED?

I was at the uxbridge wastewater plant a few weeks ago for a tour with the cub scouts and that park is about 1/2 mile away and the noise was pretty bad.
This coming from a former suzuki quadracer and banshee rider for over 10 years.
Law enforcement is one of the reasons i got out of it, less and less places to ride, and tired of being chased by the cops....but I only got caught once...rest of the time I could outride em by far.
jugstah 12-17-2004, 11:40 AM Whatever happened to "use at your own risk" now they sue mcdonalds for causing you to get fat.
Vectorfisher 12-17-2004, 04:11 PM Just out of curiousity why would you stop? They probably write out tickets 99.9% of the time:( Do you have to go to court and prove you registered your ATV? If it was not already?
partsjay 12-17-2004, 04:30 PM Well, at first, we didn't stop, we turned around, but there was 7 of us and he caught 1 of us. So we went back because we didnt want the 1 guy to take all the heat, and it was the only way back, we would have had to go past him to get back. We were registered, except of 1 of us. All in all , it could have been alot worse than just a fine, but the fine was plenty. :af:
jkswimmer 12-27-2004, 08:32 PM When you buy an ATV it should come with a disclaimer that there is no place to ride.
NJTackle 12-27-2004, 10:39 PM We go to Paragon in PA. Probably not close to you guys but a great place to ride and worth the trip.
http://www.paragonap.com/
Fee is $25 / day. They have plenty of trails from easy to rock crawling. We usually do a few trips a year with 8+ people. Have a blast!!!
Another place is down by me in the pine barrens in NJ. Not legal....we do it anyway. usually don't have a problem. Just beware of the Jersey Devil!
All our machines are registered.
