I will. Nebe 12-19-2004, 11:14 AM Mrs eben is very affraid of flying and i have to do lots of hand holding.. she hates takeoff so right when we are powering up to take off I will start telling to her about something totally funny or something that makes her try to remember something.. this takes her mind off of the ball of fire at the end of the runway and she relaxes a bit.. jugstah 12-19-2004, 12:29 PM My son flies alone from Texas to Boston, with usually a stopover somewhere along the way, and he absolutely loves it. If he can do it, so can she. Tell her to pretend it's a rollercoaster! Heh.. FishermanTim 12-23-2004, 12:10 PM My brother is also afraid of flying. I keep telling him that to think of it as a bus ride, and the bumps are just "dips in the road". If you don't look out the windows, you can actually feel thje similarity. The take offs and landings are tougher to ignore, but if the person likes rollercoasters, that is quite similar. Also, drinking may help, unless the person in question starts to loose it, then all bets are off. Worse case scenario: imagine a fanatical drunk in an airplane? (I haven't seen it, nor do I want to.) Hopefully your calm reassurance will suffice. If not, mention that you did opt for the flight insurance because "you never know"! :laughs: :laughs: :laughs: :laughs: I'm only kidding about the last part. Simply bring an interesting book/magazine (On the water?), a walkman for inflight listening, and a few snacks (comfort food was named that for a reason.) Good luck and enjoy your flight. RIJIMMY 12-23-2004, 01:35 PM I hate flying, call her doctor, have them prescribe lorazapam (sp?). Its anti - anxiety. She'll be fine, totally awake, just not nervous. I have been taking it for years, fly all the time on business. You'd be suprised how many people take some sort of medicine before flying. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
