Does anyone know of a charter that still has their boat going right now? Id like to do some cod fishing in the Boston area soon. I would prefer to stay away from the large meat-market type cruise. Any help would be appreciatted.

If I could piggy-back on this thread...

Any private charters with larger boats going offshore or to Stellwagen for whale cod?

Thx...

If I'm not mistaken Yankee Fleet runs year round out of Gloucester....give them a try

I know you don't like the Meat Market boats.......But pretty much everyone going out on it this time of year knows what they're doing..........Most of the yahoos don't fish this weather

There is a member here "relentless" I think. He runs cod charters. The santini's speak highly of him. Do a search under his name. Hope this helps.

Yankee Fleet is done until St Patty's Day

If Waltrip is unavailable call Kevin Twombley on the Kayman Too . . . runs from the marina next to the YF and tries to fish all winter too.

Pretty much the only decent party boats that are running right now is the Helen H and Angler out of Hyannis. They are a little pricey but basically the only large operation running year round, unless you go with Francis Fleet.

I would highly recomend Dave, he's been having a very good season, and he's a very qualified captain.
Here's Dave and his son Shaun with a few examples of the fish he's been getting.

I think Walsh's goes all year outta Lynn. Did a trip with em last year in march, man was it cold out there. Came home with 2 cod between the three of us and they were about 23.5 inches. The day before they killed em with fish in the 50's, my life story...

If anyone gets or needs to split a charter let me know, I need to catch something that pulls drag, I been casting to the neighborhood cats but they're onto me now. :(

Beatle,

Now you know there is no such thing as a former marine same with the Coast Guard, especially one who is still on Active Duty and has to drive a desk when not fishing. One of these days I will be the retired coastie but not too soon, I have one of the greatest jobs in the world. The fishing has been great and we will continue taking out the shared and private charters throughout the winter and into the spring as long as the weather holds. Thank God for a heated cabin and patience. As you know if too cold or windy, this career sailor stays home and watches football, no fish is worth getting beat up or dying for.

Have a great Holiday.

Capt Dave comes with the CaptainBasic seal of approval when it comes to large GOM Cod...and I worked on Yankee for 4 seasons

Ah, painting must be slow this time of year. Of course I will give you a call so we can take one of our scouting trips soon. We will look for more of those steaker cod and venture into the land of the haddock.
