My resolution is the same every year.
Now that might seem that I can't succeed and that I am trying the same thing each year, but that's not true.
My resolution is the same every year: This year I will try or do something that I haven't done before.
The reasoning for this resolution is that instead of telling myself that I CAN'T or WON'T do something, I'm "telling" myself that I CAN DO or TRY something. (It goes way back to when we were all children, and the defiant nature we had when we were told that we couldn't do something. Back then we didn't know what we could or couldn't do, so we didn't want to be told what we could or couldn't do without finding out for ourselves.)
The added plus is that typical resolutions are destined to fail because you have to "not do" something all year, while I have all year to do whatever I choose, and it doesn't have to be anything fanatical. I haven't failed in years. One year I got my license, another I got my first car, another still I got my duel citizenship for Ireland, and another still (this year) I learned to fish the canal.
Any way, I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, and may you all enjoy the coming year to it's fullest.

I've always fished just to catch fish regardless of size. Now that I actually own a setup that can truly handle a big fish I'm going to spend more time this coming year targeting big bass.
