Got my first Sailfish yesterday. Over 6 feet long and between 65 70 lbs. We cut the leader boatside and never took the fish out of the water. What a trip! These fish fight to the death so the boat needs to back down on them so they don't die. We were fishing in 10 to 12 ft seas on a Hatteras 46'. I have caught Bass for 40 years but hooking up on one of these fish is like tying your line to the back of a race car. Tail walked 4 times.
Still in Florida. Pictures when I get home.

If it helps motivate you Slingah, the bite is ON! We have been catching them every day and flirting with double digit catches for the last week. I think after this cold front goes by we'll crack the TEN fish mark for a day and it only gets better in Jan/Feb. So when ya comin down?

Thanks guys. We were using Blue runners on Kites. 2 Kites out and one rod just live lining. I pick up the first Sail on the left Kite. Tough fight as we had big seas but what a thrill. I need to get back here. We were out of Sailfish Marina on Tony Rizzo's boat, the Ad Adesa (I think that was the name.

Tony rizzo i think his boat is called the natural I fished with him last year and we hammered the sails right in front of the Breakers I pretty sure it was rizzo Its an older boat 1962 about 38 feet and hes on the left when you walk down the dock about 6 boats down . Any way congrats on your first atlantic sailfish. Did you get any hoo or kingfish ?

Pete:
Tony sold the natural in Oct. he's getting rid of this boat next month and getting a new boat. he told me the maker but I have forgotten. We were between the Breakers and the Stacks. Had a Hoo on but he cut us off as we were not fishing wire. I'll post the pics when I get home tomorrow.
