May be going to Oregon Inlet for Stripers in the next couple of weeks. Anybody got recommendation on where to stay, charters, what beaches to fish, etc?

Call well ahead before you go.

Inshore striper charters with some of the more colorful charter captains can be booked a year or more in advance.

Truth be told, if you're going to go to all that effort to drive down there, book an offshore charter for tuna, dolphin, wahoo, etc.

Also, it's an hour further south of OI, but the Miss Hatteras party boat offers a full day offshore bottom fishing charter - snapper, triggerfish, black sea bass, and the rare grouper. It can be stupid fishing, and for $75 it's a deal.

Call Pirates Cove rental office, during the winter months you can get some very good rates. OI is only 10-minutes from there. The bass and tuna bite has been tremendous. This past weekend, trucks were lined up for miles at the ramp across from Pirates trying to launch to get in on the action, this caused some traffic woes.

Forgot to mention, the inlet itself offers fabulous shore fishing.

Fish the sound and the inlet (either side is fine but I think the South side has more parking) beginning at the top of the outgoing.

You can park right at the marina (assuming it's open, remember this is federal property) and look for holes and depressions on the backside.

I've seen stripers caught there as late as April/May (likely summer holdovers).
