Crafty Angler 01-08-2005, 12:09 PM Mike, are they Bliz Gags or Al G Gags? Just wondering...
fishweewee 01-10-2005, 01:18 PM The latest from Al Gags, not Bliz Gags or Mambo Gags. RU confused yet? I am. :laughs:
RIJIMMY 01-10-2005, 02:58 PM How do they cast, seem light 1.5ozs
Look nice - wonder if the lip will stand up to rocks? Is the lip wood or plastic?
DZ
Jay Dog 01-10-2005, 04:21 PM The lip is made out of lexan so it shouldn't break

Surfpirate 01-11-2005, 09:11 PM curses foiled again! :af:
Mike you have to learn from the Reps.
it doesn't matter how many you ship as long as they go out the same day you get to say "your shop will be the first in your town / state / country to get these" :p
J-golden 01-11-2005, 10:46 PM thru-wired?
tlapinski 01-12-2005, 08:31 AM I met with Al a few weeks ago to test these out before they made it to the shops. My first impression was that they looked to be too light to cast. Well, that thought was squashed on my first cast. I was quite amazed at how far they actually cast. I wasn't using light gear, either, as Al wanted to see how the lure would work with real fishing gear. I had 50# braid and 60# leader and a fairly heavy 9' rod. It went so far on my first cast, Al actually thought I broke off one of his proto's. Anyway, they are through wired and look to be pretty well made. He told me he did some stress tests with them being tied to a cinderblock and none of them failed. They dive to a similar depth of a bomber, but you can also swim them on the surface like a danny with a sexy wiggle. Only time will tell if the bass like them, but I know of a couple already taken on the Thames this week on the smaller version.

Anyway, they are through wired ... I retract this statement and appoligize to anyone I may have mislead. As was pointed out to me, they are in fact not through wired. :(
mikecc 01-24-2005, 05:29 PM as we all found out this weekend right TL:eek:
BasicPatrick 01-24-2005, 10:47 PM I also just found out they are not "through wired"...there is a system of wring and according to Al has been put through a series of weight and stress tests...
The 7" or larger of the two sizes of Surf Dancer will soon come out through wired, along with the return of the Gag's Needles & a new Top Water bait that is in development
I am going to put my come along scale setup together this weekend and see just how mych pressure the small Surf Dancer will hold up to

The Slammer will eventually come under the umbrella of
Bliz Lures...
Clogston29 01-28-2005, 08:34 AM Why release a lure that is not thru wired only to re-release it in a thru wired model shortly after? It’s kind of annoying to have bought a few of these to try and now realize that I’ll probably want to replace them with the thru wired ones when they come out, just for the additional confidence that the thru wire provides. I’m not whining or complaining since I’m still happy with the ones that I have, it just doesn’t make sense to me.

I agree with you. I just purchased some but I would have waited if I knew there were through-wired coming out eventually. The weighted stress test doesnt give me much confidence in mimicking real-life conditions either. :(
