Many of you know Don M of King Cove Outfitters has been battling cancer for quite some time. Don is a great guy, is a strong supporter the site and is great to all the members. I would like to organize a raffle fundraiser to help him offset his medical bills. Some of our members have donated some really nice prizes. They will be raffled off in groups as listed. You can make donations through Pay-Pal and PM either John R or Fishpart to let them know you made a donation, you can also mail donations to: Lineside Technologies PO Box 9183, Warwick, RI 02889.

The raffle will run through the 22nd of February

Tickets will be $5.00 each or 3 for $10.00.

Don is a class guy and has been helping people out from this site since practically day one. Many of you know him as he has hosted all of our Rhody Leg events in the 4 Leg Tourneys and has always put his best forward for our members.

I'm donating a 9' Custom Surf Rod and I'll know in a few days if I can sweeten the pot by adding an 8' Custom Spinning Rod (if I can get things together).

I will also be donating 4 LARGE Gibbs Plugs, new in package.

Can we use the donate button at the bottom of the pages here on the site or do we need your specific email addresses to send in the cash?

And because we are all tackle afficianatos (sp?), give us the details on this (or these) rods? Make/Model etc?

I will be donating a 9' Batson 1088 (or 1089) with Fuji guides and seat, thread wrapped by Goose and epoxied by moi, an 8 foot Batson spinner with Fuji guides and seat, also wrapped by the Gooster and epoxied by me (efficiencies :hee: )

The 4 Gibbs plugs will likely be a some large pencils, a darter - need to see what I have in "inventory".

Yes - paypal on the site button is fine, please send a PM to me and Fishpart when you make a donation - thanks!

John, Bill Ct surfcasters. Don is a great guy. Always helpful and knowledgable. He is one our clubs advertisers. I would like info on donations. We at the Ct. surfcasters will be donating a Mark Lucik hand drawn print. It's a drawing of an Albie. How can I arrange delivery or should I send it? Bill DeLizio

Yes, the Don M raffle ends on the 22nd, several days before TFCTF. We have not finalized the details but likely we will have the prize drawings at our semi-official S-B Warwick Airport area meeting hall :hihi:

I will bring tickets and photos to PF2005 as well :)

John -

We've been flat out getting stuff ready for the SWE Fair, the RISAA show and putting a package together for the grant we're working on.....but I was just re-reading this and wanted to sweeten the pot a little heading into the home stretch.

I'd like to donate an 11x14 double-matted framed print of the Graves Point Fishing Club from The Angler's Art to the list of prizes.

We know firsthand how tough it can be to deal with health issues like this having gone through it in our own families and we hope it will help Don out a bit.

I'll also pick up some raffle tickets via PayPal in Mrs. Crafty's name - since I never have any luck

Don's a helluva nice guy and we wish him a full and speedy recovery so he'll soon be able to enjoy a morning like these gentlemen had! :kewl:

WOW - Thanks Chuck!

Folks, the Ante is UP - get in on this Raffle!

Also added to the list: AdamR (you know, the one that got a 50 on his own needle this fall) is going to donate a custom needle and swimmer to the list of prizes...

Thanks guys!

John

Words can’t express the feelings I have right now for what the S-B family is doing with this raffle. It is with the greatest admiration and respect for everyone at S-B, I write this humble note of thanks.

This illness has been very trying, to say the least. At times it has been very difficult keeping a positive attitude, but just following this thread has kept the fire burning and the need to beat this.

I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Everyone within this community is not only great fisherman but incredible humanitarians as well. Each and every one of you will remain in my thoughts and prayers for a long time to come.

I look forward to seeing you at the first RI leg this spring.

Many Thanks and God Bless,
Don Michaud

We are all pulling for you Don :btu:
Keep up that positive outlook and be strong.
I know you have alot of fight in you.
Any guy who played in the NHL back when you didn't wear helmets has got to be a tough SOB
I remember reading your name in some of the hockey mags when I was a kid. I wanted to be just like Cheevers back then.
Anytime you need something, just ask :wavey:

Don - you are quite welcome and certainly command the respect among us. Thanks to you for all of the support you've given all of us over the years. The CT Surfcasters have lent a hand in raffle prizes and buying tickets and the guys at plugfest generated a seperate raffle that day as well.

Keep your eye on the prize and we'll see you soon.
