View Full Version : rod bench
Goose 01-12-2005, 04:31 PM Finaly starting to feel like home:D room is approx 12x9, this was orginaly an office so its well insulated and dust will be much easier to handle,, much better then my cold basement. I went with all pine(cheapest) and wanted deep drawers. The counter is actualy that floating floor stuff which has like a 25 yr finish. I would of went with a laminant counter but there was a couple bundles left over from the floor when I got here. I also made a shelf (24"x33") holds 160 1oz spools,,I don't think dust will be an issue, I like seeing how colors look against each other rather then haveing them in plano's I'm still going with track used to hold ceiling sqaures and sewing machine motor,,works for me. It's still not complete but not far from it. Got plenty ideas from you guys hope someone can use some of mine.

TheSpecialist 01-12-2005, 04:58 PM Nice job Tony..
Billy 40 01-12-2005, 07:34 PM THat's very nice. Too nice - what are you going to do when you spill Acetone on it. How are you going to remove epoxy droplets?
WHO CARES!! THat's a sweet set up you got there.
tynan19 01-12-2005, 09:01 PM Nice Bench! Looks great finished.

Goose 01-12-2005, 11:02 PM Thanks. Your right too nice. My other bench had plywood surface...pain in the butt sometimes gettin all the threads off. i don't do alot of rods so I'll keep a good stack of news papers on hand. It won't be long they'll chit everywhere.
5-6" snow
bud8fan 01-13-2005, 12:27 AM SWEET TONY!!!

Rapt Tite 01-15-2005, 06:33 AM Great looking shop. The view will look much better when that cold , white, frozen stuff disapears.
Saltheart 01-17-2005, 02:10 PM Cool set up Goose! I find a shelve above the lathe for drying finish helps/ it should be wide enough to have 2 or 3 turning at once.
tlapinski 01-17-2005, 02:27 PM Sweet set up! I wish I had some natural light in my shop. Unfortunately it's just a corner of my room. I like the thread shelf! It beats the 3 plano boxes i have mine in.

DOn't take this the wrong way, but I'd prefer to have thread kept in Plano boxes out of any light where UV can fade & dust can weaken the thread. My own opinion. Still an awesome set up.
mrmacey 01-25-2005, 12:22 PM is that the same house or did you move.
Goose 01-26-2005, 09:29 AM I moved.
striperondafly 02-03-2005, 10:01 AM Thats is a work of art!!!!!!
Vermonter 03-01-2005, 10:39 PM Nice looking setup Goose, enjoy it. From the looks of the pic should dust ever become a problem with the thread you could easily add a couple of wood doors.
Homerun04 03-02-2005, 10:32 PM Sweet man....really sweet.....can you see the color of green envy on my face..??...!!
Matty Fish 03-11-2005, 05:47 PM It's a lot nicer than my shop in the basement, I bet it's a lot warmer too, I'm jealous...;)
nightfighter 04-05-2005, 06:22 AM Nice T, and dust controlled! I got a Jet hanging from the ceiling and dust collection set up, but havan't a prayer of setting up a "clean" room to wrap in. Nice finish, too nice for my shop!!!
