OK - A Winter Cod Trip was mentioned in another thread about a "Herring Fling". Any takers regarding a planned Cod Trip? C-Ratt - any suggestios for the Plymouth area as it is far better than out of Galilee or do we go for the deep freeze out of Glahhsta?

I am also interested in putting together a shore cod trip IF there are reliable reports of Cod like at the Ditch/Scussett but they would more than likely be a quick notice type trip....

Any suggestions?

I'll have to find out about the Andylynn but think he is not running this winter. There should be some boats running out of the North shore though. We could all pile in on GS's boat and do an inshore trip! Ditch cod was all rumors but the Gut and Castle Island has confirmed cod catches.

Yeh - Slip and others were saying the exact same thing. Red Top and some other shots kept claiming keeper cod out of the east end but the only thing there I guess was an occasional Mack & Slip's East End pet seal...

I think someone was getting a major kick spreading that rumor around ;) - I'll also see if some of the Scituate guys get a consistent bite of the beaches for next year...

What's the name of that obat out of Rye, NH? Supposed to be a kick arse boat - the Bunny G? Or something like that...

I'd be happy to take a few guys out, I just don't fish for Cod this late and am kinda clueless about locations. Could be just fish my usual ledges, because I caught a pair of 27 inch cod this spring on the same ledge outside Cohasset harbor. If someone wants to give up some GPS coordinates on better locations, I'd be willing to look into that, but this time of year I'm staying coastal. You won't find me running outside too far, 4 miles maybe on a nice day, but it's ccccc-cold. That's why I like the Thames, somewhat sheltered so it's not that bad even with higher winds.

Bunny Clark shuts down soon, best boat I've ever been on! I fish with him every year. In shore has started GS your spring spots should be producing. We either go out of Scituite and just head east or Green Harbor to the H bouy.

I'd be interested in something like that. What time of the year are we talking about. Hopefully after deer and sea duck hunting is over. I've been on the Andy Lynn and the Helen H. Had some good and not so good trips on the Andy Lynn. Seems sundays were for the captains friends. Sometimes a guy would charter the whole trip. Tough to go when someone does that. Never had a bad trip on the Helen-H. Costs a little more, but the captain puts you on fish. I check this site everyday so post if something is being put together. I also heard a rumor that the A. Lynn was having some problems with the boat, poss. engine trouble. Said that it wasn't gonna run this winter. After Thanksgiving you'll find out who's running.

How about a date for a trip? I usually go out the friday or saturday after Thanksgiving. The Helen H costs around 130$ a little steep for me but the Yankee out of Glouster is around 45. Any interest lets get the ball going.

I like the idea. I'll ask around. I think Smokey's brother may have gone on a winter cod boat. Not sure. Will ask around.

I'm not interested in throwing $130 at a Cod trip, but $45 for a day is reasonable, if that's the direction the board wants to go in. I'd be in at that rate, would they supply the gear at that price or is it bring your own?

OK - sounds good - anyone mind a trip to Glahsta? I think the more north you go the better but I'm not the expert. 45 bucks sounds reasonable - figure another 5 to rent a rod, another 10 for the mate to clean your fish and another 10 bucks to add to the S-B pool ;) 5 each for first and 5 for biggest...

ok I may have interest . I have fished for cod for all of the 80s every weekend Dec and Jan . ive used the super squirel ( burned up ), the gail francis , 7bs ( before the Fla run ) the helcat and mijoy. the last 2 are CT boats . I believe they all run around $45 . More fishing time the closer the boat is to the banks and wrecks .

Oh by the by I caught a 19in cod at the east end 4 years ago in Oct . Strange catch to be sure so early .

.....had a friend who used to visit Gloucester every few days....he had some ol' women on his street who would pay his fare AND buy his fish....he used to whale em' out of Gloucester, not sure of the boat, not that it matters cuz I believe he told me it made its final cruise last year...
...If you guys ever hit Bucko's on 2nd street look at the biggest Cahd on the board, thats Mikey with a beaut!!....

...so I'm definately in for Gloucester..and somewhere around 50 bucks ... ...let's not sleep on this one!!...start a list, take some names ...lube the ball up, so it don't stop rollin'...:p
