Picked up the classified section of the paper and found a tasty deal on a canoe last week. 12' birch bark painted, fiberglass canoe, oars and jackets for $100. I thought to myself this could be a sweet deal or a bust, so I checked it out. After looking it over and seeing two rips in the fiber I bought it for $40. Yee-ha, I finally have a vessel. Small, but a vessel none the least. the next day I put it in the water to check the leaks, not bad. I went to Wal-Mart for a repair kit and was satisfied that I could repair it for under $15. Home I went. I live in an apartment complex in downtown Norwich and I figured that I should hide the boat so that it doesn't get ripped off my truck. I hid it at my place of work behind a couple of fences and dumpsters and covered a portion of it with a tarp and went home. Twelve hours later I was on my way to visit the boat of my dreams and all I found were foot prints. Bought on friday, stolen on sunday. Makes me sick. I am a simple fisherman, I don't cheat or steal, (some say I lie but they can't prove it), all I want is peaceful waters and boiling fish BUT, I'm pissed and I hope whoever stole it gets consumed by a large school of blue fish after the ship sinks.
Heard anything about a canoe being stolen? Let me know:mad:

Bummer that s**ks, just once I'd like to catch some punk trying to steal from me. I've had way too many car cassette decks stolen over the years, to the point I don't even consider upgrading from the factory stuff anymore. Next time get a nice heavy chain and hard to cut lock, at least it will keep the kids away.

...sad story....sorry to hear about your loss

this past summer I had my dinghy stolen from the Marina...( ..and my boat wasn't even runnin ...overheatin' problems..) but I was pizzed off, especially since it was a gift!!..I buzzed around the Marina letting everyone know " SOMEBODY STOLE MY DINGHY " and I WILL be on the lookout!!....well the craziest thing happened....someone turned it in to the Harbour Master...and even left note as to who's it was....
..now I'm just happy I got it back, and asked only once who returned it...but with no reply, I left it at that.... I was just happy to get it back...

..I don't really see this working for you, but sometimes weird things happen.. ...Good Luck with its return, if not you've been schooled  ...Lock and Key, works for me!!..

Time and time again we hear about somebody needing our stuff more than we do >:(. Locks and chains will deter honest people.
