I can't say he's the reason after all if you look at the carousel of players in and out of that team you would be amazed he has been able to keep his team pretty competetive, already Plaxico Is talking about leaving, last year was his worse year. And he wasn't really throwing Ben under the bus he merely said that Ben threw 3 INT's and that you cannot overcome that when playing a good team, he also said that the Defense couldn't make stops in the game when needed. IMO he needs to be less predictable opening the offense up, more balance on offense, I think that will come as Ben progresses, I also think they need to work a speedy running back into there program along with Duce Staley and maybe one more receiver. They really don't have the weapons the Patriots do on the offensive side of the ball.

When its late in the game, down by 2 td's, 4th down, and you're two yards from the endzone GO FOR IT. Cower is another product of the conservative Shotenheimer coaches, all of whom are watching the superbowl again this year.

I was glad they kicked the field goal I thought they were crazy not to go for it. They had a lot of momentum scoring on their first two drives and I was getting nervous. That decision let the air right out of the Steelers sails.

Cowher.....a perfect name for him because he cowers under pressure......tried to run and hide.....he let his team down by not showing confidence in them while asking them to show confidence in him......

Hey hey no Hines ward bashing. That guy is the best, he plays his heart out for that team and never talks trash, he deserves a few tears. I was also disgusted with the field goal call on the 1 1/2 yard line however Plaxico Burress had no excuse in dropping that pass even though Samual had his hands all over him:rolleyes:

As a Pats fan, I think the Steelers should keep Cowher. He is an awesome coach, probably the greatest ever!

The Rooneys (Steelers' owners) have said Cowher can coach into his sixties. Why stop there? How about a lifelong contract. Guarenteed, for big money.

To Steelers fans - don't ever let him get away. You have no idea how much its scares Pats fan knowing we will have to face him in future AFC Championship games! You do not want any other coach patrolling the sidelines for the black & gold. Keep him. Forever. Please.

this wont last forever guys lets not be naive ;P sooner or later this will all be gone, the nfl is a tough place to play at a high level for a long period of time, especially in this free angency era. bill cowher has for 11 yrs been a very consistent coach. he's won a hell of a lotta games, though his playoff record leaves something to be desired. he's a good coach top 5 in the league and the steelers should keep him around, he'll learn to play to win and not to lose eventuallly, they all do :P

It is not that I think Brady is a Marino, Elway, Montana yet, he plays within the Patriots abilities. The fact that your back up QB doesn't stand a chance was more the point I was making. Not trying to start any QB wars, Brady is Brady fits there offensive schemes well, would he do so well in Indy??? Probably not !

Brady wouldn't do well in Indy? You must be kidding-or blind. I know you hate the Pats and all but geez. Brady is an excellent QB and a GREAT big game QB. Facts.

I've got to add my $.02 here as well. I've heard this knock on Brady repeatedly - "works well only in the Pats dink & dunk scheme", "protected by a system", "average QB who owes a lot to great defense".

I'll leave the 8-0 playoff record aside for second, but he has put up better than decent numbers the last four years with a group of good/very good (but not great) receivers. And this is not a knock on the Pats receivering corps, who are finaly getting some well desrved attention, but unlike many other "more successful" QB's, he has never had that real stud WR like Owens, Moss, Harrison, etc. I think Troy Brown made one Pro Bowl.

So what is lacking besides gaudy statistics?

Arm Strength? He has consistently improved his deep passing ability since 2001, last week's 60-yarder to Branch an example.

Accuracy? He has always done well threading the needle, note several tough 3rd and long conversions against Indy in the 2nd half with defenders all over the Pats receivers.

Mobility? OK, he is not a scrambler, but has a great knack for stepping up or small lateral movement to avoid the rush (like Marino I might add).

Size? Not sure, 6'4 or 6'5.

Ability to read defenses? Always considered one of his strengths.

Cool in the pocket? Defenses are genuinely hesitant to blitz because he reads and reacts very well to pressure.

Good touch? Excellent on screen passes and short flairs. Also excellent with short passes in the red zone, note Vrabel in last year's SB, Branch (?) short TD against Indy. I believe he developed this good touch around the goal line from previous seasons due to a lack of a power runner.

Handles situational pressure? Now I'll cite the playoff record, or specifically the FG drive against the Rams three years ago or Carolina last year.

Leadership? Should be obvious. It is apparent from interviews how much faith his coaches and teammates have in him in big games (or any game for that matter).

So why would anyone say Brady would not be successful on Indy or any other team? Granted he may not be the pure passer that Manning is, but he could still get the job done.

Has he had some tough games? Sure - Pitt and Miami obviously. But nobody ever said he was perfect, and in both of those games the O-line had trouble also.

Could he lead any other team to a Super Bowl? Not immediately of course, because that takes a whole team. I cannot think of a single NFL team (and I now include Indy in this analysis) that would not be upgraded at the QB position with Brady.
