You guys been thinkin on how your going to piss away your tax return this year? Any must have tackle out there? (i will save you all the typing...habs anything). I figure a spinning and a casting combo, aqua skins bag, and a few plugs should get me started for the year.

Scar tissue, from a digger i took on my mountain bike. Went in a few years back but they said cause it didnt hurt it was cosmetic and wasnt covered by insurance. Gonna bitch and moan about how it hurts this year and pay da $300 deductable and get it chopped.

Having the Deck of my boat covered with LineX

and a few other small things. I like t get the bow rail on my boat cut in the middle and bent down so I have a split there, That would make the world great!

I wish I could do it my self but that would have to be a big pipe bender!!

Like this

If you managed your money right you shouldn't be getting one and you shouldn't have to pay either. Having Uncle SAM control your overpaid taxes for a year is giving him a no interest loan. You need it more than him and the amount you over pay him and get back after he kept it in the federal reserve, where he made interest on your cash but you don't is just plain dumb. You could take that 500, 1000 or however much and could have put it into an IRA, 403B even a savings account and made more with it. I usually break even, he gets very very little or none and I the same. It's better in your pocket than his and you don't have to wait for tax time to get it and use it.:smash:

Flap I agree with your theory but the only problem is the more you make the more you spend. If you don't see the money you cannot spend it, I think that is why a lot of people claim zero. They have a nice check to look forward to. Personally I claim 1 so I get less back and like you say more in my check each week.

Can you say VACATION?

I'm at one of those internet startups that promised sabbaticals, 4 weeks once every 5 years. Long story short they canceled the future sabbaticals but if you've been there long enough you still get your first one. I will have earned mine April 3rd (knock on wood). I'm thinking about combining it with several weeks vacation and taking the entire month of August and September off.

Some things I'll need tax refund money for (along with other savings of course):
-Lodging, entry fee and expenses for the Top Gun Marlin and Tuna Shootout at MV
-Lodging, entry fee and expenses for the September portion of the MV Derby (a tradition with me, but I'll be staying longer this year)
-Lodging and expenses for a late October/early September week on Block Island (usually just a weekend)
-Expenses for several overnight trips in August from Southern Maine to Long Island

I was actually thinking about renting a larger boat that I could live on for the month of August. Anyone ever do that? I found one in my price range but it was a trauler with a max speed of 7 knots, very comfortable though at 40 feet. I'm looking for something that would be comfortable to live on but would be able to make a canyon run in a reasonable amount of time.

I welcome any other ideas on how you would spend that kind of time on the vacation of a lifetime? Not intending to hijack this thread, but I think that kind of goes along with the intended subject.

Flap, I don't think it's dumb at all to get a refund. As long as my clients understand the whole "government has your money" thing. For those people that still choose to get a refund, it's normally because it is a method of forced savings that works for them.

Making decisions based on what's best for them is much smarter than making decision based on animosity toward the government.

Me, on the other hand, I'll have to pay.:crying:
