I tend to do a lot of chunking since it's relaxing to me. Certain areas I fish have large amounts of the small crabs w/black top shell and orange bellies. I usually use a fish finder rig with dropper loops just big enough to pass a gami through.

If I let the the rig sit out there for more than 10-15 min either the baits gone or i'm reeling in a bunch of the buggers. What I want to know is there anyone who uses the pre made striper rigs w/floats on them with any success or can anybody offer me some advice on how to feed the crabs less and still atract stripers. And can those type of crabs be used as bait?

best ones are natural-colored oval cork floats that go on the leader between hook on one end and swivel/fishfinder on the other.

just about any crab can be used for bait (tog, stripers) except for spider crabs.

in my experience dunking bait whenever i've caught sharks, skates or crabs i really didn't do too well with stripers etc. don't think the water is deep, cold, fast, turbulent enough for them. i think there are multiple crabs there for a reason (bass aren't eating them). i'd catch me some of that there bait and go elsewhere. i could be totally wrong but that's my .02. and remember, the fresher the bait the better off you are. good luck.

FWW.. I beg to disagree when hungary a Tog will eat Spidercrabs... we got bored one day and tried em out... worked, but not as good as real crabs
