Mr. Sandman 02-07-2005, 03:14 PM My wife used my explorer I keep on the mainland to do some shopping and complained that it "started funny"... The next time I went over I popped the hood and the truck was broken into this winter and various engine parts removed. All kinds of weird parts were gone and as well as some hoses hacked away. I got it running and brought it in to the dealer to find out what I needed...Just got the call....I am out 5 bills just to get it back to where it was.:af: (and this was in a fenced gaurded lot too)
People who steal just plain suck.
reelecstasy 02-07-2005, 03:16 PM That does suk, I hate people:af: :smash: :af:
Did you talk to the "guard"
Fishpart 02-07-2005, 03:25 PM Maybe the "guard" needs to go fishing..........
I used to live on the other island so I can appreciate the logistical problems this presents. Now in E. Fal. if you want to "explorer" an unguarded driveway.
Mr. Sandman 02-07-2005, 03:46 PM Fishpart....I like your thinking!
re: gaurd: I mentioned it to an employee and got a strange look I will register a formal complaint. I just could not believe someone would hack out used engine parts.... I thought well maybe something was loose in there and it got torn off. But the dealer said...no someone with a knife and tools was under the hood and removed stuff he wanted and he was in a rush.
pete santini 02-07-2005, 04:06 PM the jerk or jerks must not have heard of pep boys. lower the air pressure in the guards tires with a new device 'ice pick'
kippy 02-07-2005, 08:41 PM That sucks Jim..I'm sure those jerks will get theirs eventually..:af:
Raider Ronnie 02-07-2005, 09:09 PM We have been seeing quite a few Nissans at our shop lately that had the headlights stolen because their hallogen:smash:
But I would bet if the theives were caught,
There would be a BIGGER scum bag Lawyer willing to defend them!!!
tynan19 02-08-2005, 08:06 AM Find out what the guard drives.
Raven 02-08-2005, 10:01 AM i take it.... so perhaps you could rig a chain from the hood to
the underside of the vehicle where you can have a padlock.
That sounds like a hassle i'm sure....but i did this when i was remote (Hiking miles in) camping out in the middle of NO where and always found my vehicle in the same condition as i left it after being gone for several days.
Heres my question... how did they get the hood open?? almost every car made today has to have the hood unlatched from a lever inside the car. If the guard had the keys, then something fishy went down.....
Raven 02-09-2005, 07:36 AM btw sorry that happened to yah mr sandman
and ditto on what Eben said....
Karl F 02-09-2005, 09:15 AM Real Sorry to hear of your troubles, hate when people do the midnight auto thing.
Does sound like an inside job at the lot.... talk with the owner/manager yet? Never mind the guards, head for the top.

Very simple to get hood open from thru the grille with a screwdriver. Had to do it many times...Broken hood cables.
Padlocking hood shut is illegal and not safe.
Engine fire..........POOF!
