Looking to start one this year and was wondering what pertinent info you would want in the log. I'm assuming Time, Tide, Weather Conditions, Fish Caught/or Not, Bait/Plugs used, and of course Location.
Anything I'm missing or that you would include in yours.
I tried a search but its kind of hard when you can't search on the word "Log" :D

I include the approximate depth, water temperature, air temperature, and barrometric pressure. None are overly necessary, but I find that it can prove useful at times, mainly a theory I'm trying to prove.

location, date, weather, moon rise/set, wind, surf conditions, water temp, tides, times/places fished, fish caught/times caught/tide stage/technique used, other places fished with no success, and finally an area called notes. I'll write any additional info here and take note of how friends are doing in other areas at the time.
I think its really important to take note of the exact conditions when a quality fish is taken. I've also learned a lot by sharing info with others, and write their suggestions in my log.
Its crazy to see that in many spots, the same small window of tide, wind and moon stage always produces 40#+ fish throughout the years.

This might be helpful for gathering your info - I pick up a copy the Tide Log product every year to document info right on the day you fish (usually on the counter at most B&T's). That way all the pertinent tide/current/moon/sun info is already there - just add your additional info!

I wish I had a log of past years. I have a few spotty notes here and there. When I was a kid I kept great notes of every trip. As an adult it became more of a mental notebook. But now that I lost my mind:) I can't remember a damn thing anymore.
