Ok went to the boat show with my boss and really didn't think I'd really see any bay boats as I'm ready to upgrade to a center console. I have to say I was very impressed with the construction and simple roomy layout of the KeyLargo 190, I'm just not sure I can adapt my style fishing to it. The mounting of a trolling motor shouldn't be bad, but is it too far up off the water line and is the 19 degree deadrise gonig to make moving it with the trolling motor too difficult?

I like a leaning post and that boat isn't really laid out with a large casting front deck, so I've either got to be up on the bow which puts me on the access hatch to the bow locker or move down to the next level. I'm thinking I need to go to the 210 model, which has the raised bow casting platform, either way I was very impressed with the simple layout and solid feel.

Anyone know anyone running either of those models? I'd be especially interested in trolling motor installations and fitout.

ask if the stern is foam filled or layered ply with glass....I know you like a heavy motor and r a go fast guy.

The boats from Key Largo and Palm Beach are identical models. Those 2 brands plus Cape Craft are all built by Marine Manufacturing, Inc. in Douglas, Georgia. They are all simple but well built hulls based on older Hydra-Sports models.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of those boats or models.

Plywood transom:yak: I just don't trust manufacturers to completely encapsulate them, and also seal all bolt holes etc. :doh:

After looking at how it sits, its seems you'll need a long shaft on the trolling motor, will it still be long enough in a 2'-3' chop?

Before I bought mine I compared it with everything else in its price range and age. The Key Largo's was one of the hulls that came up short on my list. Some of the things I was looking for that the KL doesn't have where closed transom, 30 gal bait well, beefy rails and hull. The KL is also a lighter boat and in the same class as the 1851 seaswirl(SS175 hrs max/ KL150 max)....heavier hull gives you a bit more stability, especialy on that ride back;) Another thing that mine has that many cc's in its class doesn't is a higher console/wind sheild, makes a huge difference in low temps or big chop, I stay dryer. I think the KL is better suited for your style of fishing and is more E-fi$hant:hee: on and off the road....hope I didn't confuse you but gave a little insight.

Bob, a friend of mine has the 190, I've been out fishing in it a number of times. He doesn't have a trolling motor though, so I can't help you out with that.

It is a nice inshore fishing boat, we take it out from Narragansett down to Charlestown with no problem, handles some chop well and we're often in the surf line. He was looking at several boats and picked this one for function and cost. The fit and finish isnt as good as you'd see on a more expensive one, but it is a solid, simple fishin boat and he's been happy with it. Trailers well too, as the 190 is pretty light.

I think the only problems or complaints he's had is the bow hatch hinge broke, and the gas fill is on the rear seat so any spillage pools up in the corner.

My Dad has a 21' Key Largo CC.....I love the boat. Does well for what he uses it for. Nice fishing boat.

My friend has the same boat. I have fished on it dozen times. I could answer any questions for you.
