Iwannakeeper 02-16-2005, 03:50 PM I went....a lot of nice boats. I actually think I was overwhelmed. Went back in tonight for the second time. BEETLE 02-17-2005, 07:25 AM Looks like me and bobbike will be there Friday after work.. Van 02-17-2005, 08:23 AM Got 4$ tickets for the show yesterday at Mony's.... Gotofish 02-17-2005, 10:10 AM Is there anywhere you can get discounted tickets or coupons for a couple $ off? Unemployment sucks BEETLE 02-17-2005, 12:15 PM As Van said above, Monys (Monahans Marine, Weymouth) has Tix for $4. each. I would go to the show website, find a dealer in your area and see if they are offering tix. Fish On 02-17-2005, 05:31 PM Anyone know if the 26 or 28 foot WA Cuddy from Hydra-Sports is there? beamie 02-17-2005, 06:20 PM It's not the show ticket you need a discount on.........................it's the parking:rolleyes: Gotofish 02-17-2005, 07:42 PM Every time I've been to the NE Boatshow it was with my old tuna fishing buddies. One owned a bus co. so we'd take a charter bus with a bathroom, TV's and everything for about twelve of us. Almost like going to a Buffet concert with the tunes and everything! Anyway, parking's never been an issue. Maybe I'll bring a bike and ride in from the Quincy T station! Anyone else going on Sat.? Fish On 02-18-2005, 09:23 AM Beamie is that your rig in the picture? Looks sweet. What are the high level specs? Van 02-19-2005, 12:48 AM Got back a while earlier, can't beleive the prices. and I notice they are underpowering many boats just to keep the $ down. You'll be sorry if you buy one of those. Comon a 22 with 150 Hp 4 stroke. last to the dock if you ask me....can you say DOG.......... Salesman says it will do 42.....I almost soiled myself.....laughing. Another salesman I shoulda smacked upside the head, but i told him off instead. what a jerk he was.....they must be desparate.. ScottM 02-19-2005, 09:11 AM Originally posted by Van they must be desparate.. Van, They are. A buddy of mine sells boats for one of the big north shore dealers and he said it's been the worst show in 20 years. Nobody is buying and traffic is way down. Through last night they only sold 5 boats, usually they sell 30! Van 02-19-2005, 09:52 AM Yea, we thought a friday night would be nuts, but not at all, really small crowd... my favorite thing there though was the............. VERADO 275.....what a freakin mean machine Raider Ronnie 02-19-2005, 10:02 AM Originally posted by Van Yea, we thought a friday night would be nuts, but not at all, really small crowd... my favorite thing there though was the............. VERADO 275.....what a freakin man machine I saw a few boats (Fountain) with 3 of those mounted on the back!!!:p Vectorfisher 02-19-2005, 11:47 AM Originally posted by Van Got back a while earlier, can't beleive the prices. and I notice they are underpowering many boats just to keep the $ down. Good maybe the industry will start providing quality with a fair price tag rather than junk with a let's see how much we can get for it attitude. Mr. Sandman 02-19-2005, 12:45 PM Originally posted by Van Yea, we thought a friday night would be nuts, but not at all, really small crowd... my favorite thing there though was the............. VERADO 275.....what a freakin man machine That engine is huge...over 7.5' tall Some nice technology but I hope to move away from ob's . Did you see that Ship Shape show where they compared a 27' Ocean Master with twin 200 Hp Yami OB's to a the identical boat with a 300 cummins jackshaft to a brovo II drive? It was impressive, range at cruise was 2.5X the ob range and at troll it was insane difference. Net cost about the same. Vectorfisher 02-19-2005, 04:10 PM Now now Sandman you cant tell me the Cummins would troll @ 0.4GPH like my outdated 99 225 would. Mr. Sandman 02-19-2005, 04:34 PM you burn .4 gal just to start that ob up :laughs: Team Rock On 02-19-2005, 06:30 PM The trolling comparison was done @6-8 knots, which is a terrible speed for an outboard, fuel consumption wise, wheras the diesal is barely idling. I'd have to agree with SM though, outboards are becoming less desirable. What will a Verado be worth in a few years when the warranty runs out and it has 600 hours on it? I think they quoted the Ocean Runner engine options as 30,000 with twin 150 yam's, or 24000 with the single cummins. The hull modification for the Cummins was about 4000 extra. Speed at WOT throttle is way overated these days. Mr. Sandman 02-19-2005, 08:33 PM I like the yanmar but they all are jumping on this electronic bandwagon. The range and smoke improvements are dramatic. They had a table at the end of the show...The WOT on that boat was 47 with twin 200's and 41 with a single 300 hp diesel. The cruise speed was the same. I bet a few more HP could get you the same WOT and still have an amazing range. Still, 41 is a pretty good clip. They showed two speeds in detail, the 6 knot troll and the cruise ( I think it was 31knots), in any case at troll it was a blow out. The diesel would run for like 350 hours on a tank of fuel and the ob's were done in like 40 hours. But at cruise, the cummins had 2.5X times the range still. The net cost was about the same. But to me the big kicker is longivity and reliability. They didn't even mention that but you will get 10X the hours on the cummins before replacement. Also, the fuel costs, 1.80 vs 2.59 for gas. The down side is the twin vs single issue (which is significant) but this is offset again by the added costs of twins. I see more and more boats moving in this direction. My next boat will have this no question. I can't see me buying into this giant ob trend. (again) (eek I have a 04 225 4stroke...but I was desparate) With regard to the verado, I think they did some great things in that engine...really, I like the steering, electronic throttle technology (not crazy about supercharging ) but it is an amazing package. What does the 275 weigh? ...is it has to be close to 900# Imagine 3 of those on a 33' hydrosports CC:D nice ride but the gas bill has got to hurt. I have a relative who just bought a 27' CC whaler and it has twin verados (I think 200's) I will be on it this summer for sure. Should be fun. ScottM 02-20-2005, 08:44 AM Sandman, Have you seen the 28' Scout with the single 300hp Cummins/Bravo IIIX? That is a nice setup and similar perofrmance to the Ocean Master. Although I'm not crazy about I/O's, I'm liking what I see in this type of package more and more. fishsmith 02-20-2005, 04:49 PM Just got back from the show, wow was it dead. All the Merc talk on this thread is right on the money, those outboards are MONSTERS. I saw a 250 on a bass boat, hard to believe that thing will float, but when your the first to a 4lb bass I guess it makes it all worth it :smash: The most interesting thing I saw was the touch screen electronic charts, those were very cool. I really liked the 20 footer by Pilot , but 50K w/ a 135 Honda, give me a break. Van 02-22-2005, 09:06 AM They'll never get away from ob's in boats under 22-24'. Which I believe is a very popular size range. They are here to stay... Think of the changes in ob's in just the past 10 years, there is a dream engine waiting to be built out there...reliable, efficient, quiet, cheap and powerful......(longlasting ????) ....but when....  probabaly not in my lifetime !!!!!!  Raider Ronnie 02-22-2005, 08:28 PM Originally posted by Van They'll never get away from ob's in boats under 22-24'.
