It's really too bad how his career has turned out. I have never bashed Drew because he always did whatever was asked of him when he was with the Pats. His first few years on the team he was putting up Hall of Fame type numbers. Then he had little protection on the O' line and spent much of his following seasons getting up on his feet after some vicious sacks. And let's face it, he lost whatever it was he had at the start of his career.

I still refuse to bash Drew, though still many do. He did come in when the Pats needed him most, remember the AFC Championship game against Pittsburgh in 2001? He came in and got the job done. And furthermore, he did what was best for the team that year by being a supporter, not a detractor, of Tom Brady. Can you imagine a guy like Randy Moss or Fredie Mitchell finding himself in that spot?

I wish him well and think he's a heck of a nice guy still.

he could end up in baltimore as well? kyle boller is awful :P that is a championship caliber D with no offense. they have a great o-line so the protection would be there, and if baltimore lands randy moss maybe drew can get a couple more good years out of his carreer. i'd hate to see it end this way for him

I generally agree with your post. It is unfortunate that when we argue the relative merits of two athletes, we end up slamming "the other guy" in the debate to make our point, when it can be a case of both being good, just that one is better. I was a Brady guy in the Brady/Bledsoe debate, but I will always give Bledsoe credit for his part (along with Parcells and the Krafts) for revitalizing the franchise to the lofty heights which we now enjoy.

And his role in the Pitt game in 2001 should not be forgotten. Granted he provided us with a couple of Bledsoe moments in the 2nd half, but he got the job done. It was certainly a feel-good sidebar to a great run - a reward, so to speak, for the veteran who kept any disruptive ego-related complaints to himself gets to ride in and save the day.

However, I will always be disappointed that Bledsoe chose not to participate in the parade. Still don't understand it. And I don't believe any story about another committment. It would have been the frosting on the cake for Bledsoe to step forward on the stage and receive a rousing ovation from the fans not only for the Pitt game, but for his Pats career as well.

He was and remains a class act, and I wish him well (except if he plays against the Pats).

Back in 1979, my Raiders signed a then free agent big strong armed, former Pats overall #1 daft pick, after he got his ass beat around for his years with the Pats.
He was traded to a lousy team and played there for 2 years before signing with the Raiders.
After Dan Pastorini broke his leg, he took over and ended up leading them to 2 super bowl victories!:huh:

Boller showed signs of improvement in the second half of the season. And the Ravens hired Jim Fassell as their offensive coordinator. He's usually good at getting the most out of journeyman QBs (hell, he got to the Super Bowl with K-erry Collins, after all---sorry Ronnie :D :laughs: )

Well said, I agree with you and I forgot he didn't attend the parade. Who knows the real reason, probably was angry, hurt, sad, disappointed, jealous, wanting to just walk away, wondering if he'd get the ire of the "Boo Birds"

IMHO, he earned thunderous applause from the NE fans and it is a shame that he didn't show up to accept what he deserved. I think the full page spread he took out in the Globe (was it the Globe) was his Thank you and Farewell to NE....

All I can say is thank you Marvin Lewis. I liked Bledsoe but we would never be where we are now with him at the helm. P.M.

MP i think boller is still a couple years off, and the ravens have a D capable of winning now. jamal lewis is an excellent RB and the QB, WR positions are holding them back. i think bledose and moss could get them over the hump is moss is kept in check, and i think he would be if they won, winning cures many ills. i'm saying he'd be a good fit and i know the raven's ppl gotta see this 2? or bill parcells may bring him on, and he'd take the job from vinny the dinosaur testaverde

Drew was great for the Patriots, he made the team respectable again, and was the driving force for the consecutive sellouts at Foxboro. If it wasnt' for Desmond Howard he might be wearing a ring for a team he lead, but what if's are no longer what the Pats are about.
Good Luck to him, with Moss the Ravens might be the best fit, just make sure he's got a wall for an offensive line. Jamal Lewis is a great running back, but it surprised me how he rarely stays in for more than two downs.
