I am planning on building my first custom rod within a few days once my supplies come. I just purchased a 11 foot 6 inch Lamiglas S-glass rod from a local tackle shop. I love the action on the thing, feels reel nice. Does anyone have any opinions on these blanks and did a make a good choice. I bought the blank for 50.00. Was this is a good price. Just wondedring if anyone had any thoughts on my purchase. If it's a really crappy blank I don't want to put all my time and supplies in to it. Thanks in advance, Derek.

IMO, it is the best and most versatile fiberglass rod blank made. Guys cut and trim them to make finished rods from 9' up to full length, depending on the application. At full length, it's a lot of rod for a lot of places, but if you fish big water or high surf, it's a rod that can throw a 6" Bomber at the low end, 8 oz of lead and a bait at the upper end, and anything in between. Plus wrestle 40 pounders out of the nastiest rips and strongest currents. While weighing only a little more than some graphites.

Thanks for the info guys. I will be making this blank into a conventional rod that I will use to thro heavier bucktails poppers(gibbs polaris 3 oz, and bucktails). I may even do a little chunking with it but mostly for heavier sized plugs and bucktails. I think I will keep it at full lenght( 11'6). Thanks again, Derek.
