Raider Ronnie 02-20-2005, 07:40 PM I hope thats a BOAT rod Bud!!!;) Vectorfisher 02-20-2005, 07:56 PM Originally posted by Raider Ronnie I hope thats a BOAT rod Bud!!!;) Yep she's for fluking! Afterhours you would ask, only because I forget what blank it is I can tell you it is graphite and 7' long  Next I may build a heavy rod for shark, tuna, etc and drop a big Penn International on there;) missing link 02-20-2005, 07:57 PM wow, looks good!!! how long were you there till.. links Vectorfisher 02-20-2005, 08:01 PM I think it was after 4 when I left, I was definately cross eyed when I left:laughs: mikecc 02-20-2005, 09:43 PM not bad for your first time.Only had to show him a few times and he went from there. The blank is an American M701 , 7' 1 pc ,rated 1-3 oz. from start to finish including his first Diamond wrap was aprox 3 hours 45 Min.:btu: Hope you land a large tynan19 02-21-2005, 10:26 AM That looks great for your first wrap. Fishpart 02-21-2005, 10:36 AM Nice Job. I was reminded when I got home that I should have picked up a burnishing tool.......... Vectorfisher 02-21-2005, 11:34 AM Thats what I look to be landing, now all I gotta do is get Mikes Dad on the boat with me;) Thanks for all the compliments it was something I have been wanting to try for sometime, now I need to make my own setup for future builds, would make great gifts for people who fish and something to do in the winter. I had alot of help with the diamond part something I will practice. Saltheart 02-21-2005, 12:20 PM Nice job on the rod. beleive it or not , I think they have fluke decals like the striper one you put on there. Vectorfisher 02-21-2005, 12:23 PM Originally posted by Saltheart Nice job on the rod. beleive it or not , I think they have fluke decals like the striper one you put on there. Not finished yet so will have to look into that. ;) stripersnipr 02-23-2005, 02:58 PM Good choice on the 701............I've wrapped a few and worked those rods hard (15 lb. Bluefish in a ripping tide) and never seen them break out in a sweat Goose 02-23-2005, 03:38 PM Nice VF That rod became a quick favorite, don't leave the dock with out it. Easly covers all my inshore bottem fishin needs and their not pricey. In the process of wrappin a 601H my sons first rod. Vectorfisher 02-23-2005, 07:01 PM I got a bit of time to decide what reel I want to put on it, whatta ya think? Goose 02-23-2005, 09:01 PM I use the abu 6500 w/#30 PP, have Mike getcha a power handle for it. the set-up is lite & sensitive. If you want to make it a bass/blue type set up then you could go with penn international, better drag and line cap. Vermonter 02-24-2005, 11:37 AM great job on the wrap VF, gives me hope mine wont be a disaster. Saltheart 02-24-2005, 12:41 PM Yep , ABU 6500 reel. The cranberry Striper reel comes with a power handle. Mike T has them. Best id the BG6500CL but hard to find now and more money. Anyway , 6500 ABU is perfect with some braid. For a boat fluke rod , I'd use 35 LB spectron on 6that reel. mikecc 02-26-2005, 08:15 AM Your rod is done I'll have it at the shop this weekend:) Vectorfisher 02-27-2005, 12:37 PM Originally posted by mikecc Your rod is done I'll have it at the shop this weekend:) Thanks Mike it looks awesome can't wait to get it fishy!! I had a great teacher and look forward to wrapping more in the future. BEETLE 03-01-2005, 07:17 PM Nice wrap VF - I'd like to get into rod building - just don't have the time yet..
