My brother (47) just went in this morning for a quadruple bypass . he will be operated on Thursday at 11 am . He was told 5 weeks ago he needed this operation and they are finally getting around to giving him the time on the table .
He is one of a long line of the males in my family to have this problem with their arteries . Im hoping that the VA in Texas is as good as the VA up here .

so those of you with a line to God , If you could/would say a word for my brother it will be much appreciated .

MY Family and I Thank You

i lost my dad ( in 1979 ) after his successful five- way by -pass..... when a blood vessel burst in his brain after surviving the operation.....the day after he got to go home....so i am well aware of the risks involved on a personal level chris.... but to be honest the technology then and the expert technology now - is so vastly different and far superior...that i think he will be just fine following his surgery.... but i will gladly say
a prayer for him, you, and your family....

don't worry....

Thoughts and prayers for you , you're brother and the rest of the family. He'll do well and be back casting in time for the spring blitz, that type of operation has come a long way in a short time, it's actually pretty common now-a-days. All the best to him!:)

Thoughts will be with him. Had a quadruple in 1998. Waited 3 months for it. Went in on Thursday afternoon and they kicked me out of hospital on Sunday.

Tell your brother to cought hard (prevent pneumonia) and do the physical therapy with breathing as much as he can. Little pain at first but ignore it and concentrate on doing what the therapy people say. He'll be out in a few days and back home.

Tell the truth, mine was done ' off machine ' that means no breathing help or blood re-route. Guess I was pretty strong. They just cut in, took out the heart and fixed the 4 veins and put the heart back in. Glad they didn't let me watch.

Chris:
Don't worry too much. It's routine surgery. I can say that because I had a quad bypass May of 2003 and I am 10 years older than your brother. He will have a lot of pain for the first 6 weeks then he will feel and be able to act like a new man. I will say a prayer none the less.

Our Father, who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy name,
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done
on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Peace and Health to brothers everywhere - especially yours at this time Chris -

Chris:
Tell him what I said. 6 weeks of feeling like crap then BINGO, you feel great and it just gets better. He needs to start exercising immediately with moderation at first. Watch his diet, limited or no booze and rest.
The pain is mostly from they way they spread the body cavity open. It tears all of the chest, back and shoulder muscles.
By the way, I had my operation on May 28 and was in the surf throwing plugs on the Cape by July 15th.

My brothers and myself all have arterial sclerosis ( heredity ) . I have had 2 angioplasties with 3 stents in my rca ( right coronary artery ) . My brother just had his 1st zipper installed ( his second heart attack in 9 years ) . first time they treated it with drugs . My Dad had 3 bypasses and 7 heart attacks ( before they could bypass you ) . He died from something else 2 years ago (72) . My other 2 brothers ( both younger ) are treating themselves with satins ( lipitor ) . just thought I would share this with you
