Last night we had a ceremony at our Cub Scout pack meeting and my 11 boys all received their Arrow of light awards. I've been their Den Leader for 5 years and last night was their final Pack meeting as they head off to Boy Scouts.
Had a nice ceremony where I awarded them, shook there hands, and then we gave each other a salute. Got to my son did the same and then gave him a big hug. He wasn't happy and said I embarassed him on stage.
Being the caring father that I am I said "Don't Care, that hug was for me"
Followed it up w/ a big Powerpoint Presentation of them through the years, even got a few moms to tear up.....very satisfying night.
Just thought I'd share

Thats cool you gave something back to the community, I would think what kids take in at that age stays with them forever. Good deeds don't go un-noticed. :btu:

Still am....Feels good to have picked up 11 boys and let them go as 11 young men.....also have confirmation that 10 of them have signed w/ a Boy Scout troop so they will hopefully keep this going.

That's great Dad! I'm the Wolf den leader for Pack 44 next door in Newbury, I have 9 boys in my den. It will be interesting to see how many stick with it through the second year of Webelos. I lost 3 after Tigers but then picked up 3 new boys this year. Keep up the good work!
