i tried buying a single bag of apples (8lbs) and it gave me the hardest time at BJ's and finally starting to get royally pissed and loosing my cool after like the third attempt... i grabbed the bag a little to Hurriedly and
guess what,the bag broke..... all those friggan apples went everywhere like scareb beetles in the Movie "the Mummy"...:af:

I like the ones at home depot...never a problem
but the supermarket...faggetabboutit...happened to me today..unwanted item in baggage area..WHERE?? WHAT???..3 times then the girl comes over and pressed some code..all better.....after gettin the evil eye from all the soccer moms in line..lookin at me like I was stupid and wasnt doin something right

All they are good for is putting people out of jobs. :nailem:

Here is my opinion:

1. They are taking someones job away.
2. They offer you no benefit, do it all yourself for the same price as full service.
3. If you want to pay by check it is a PIA
4. They are usually no faster than a regular lane, if there are many lanes and not the 1 or 2 with cashiers as there usually are now.

kinda like the banks . lines and 2 tellers . for the last few years they have been pushing direct deposit and use the atm , now there are less tellers in the banks . Ive told them now for 2 years when I cash my check , youre giving you jobs away . most said "NO WERE NOT " and only a couple said " we never thought about it that way " . most of them are gone now !

We'll, I'd like a high paying job with little effort, who doesn't? :laugha: I've seen otherwise intelligent people reduced to near tears by those things. Learning by other's misfortune, I stay away. Every one of those things replaces a human being. That Human being is now unemployed. Same with busing your own table at fast food joints. They says it's to keep prices down :rolleyes: . Bfreakin'S! It's to increase profit. When they put me on the payroll, then I'll work for them.

Don't like'em no matter what the store.

If everyone refuses to use them they will go away!!! I for one practice this policy and feel everyone should complain when there's not enough help to cash you out!!! Pretty soon they won't even accept cash, just credit then we're all doomed.
Remember when they used to count your cash back to you instead of handing you what the register says to give you!!

I just plain don't like them. I have little enough contact with real humans to want to use a machine to check out.

an ATM machine is generally a direct link to a bank account

a scan it your self register has a conveyer belt that is "weight sensative"

and these machines have allot of bugs... i have had countless problems

with them.... and the obnoxious, repetative, moronic , announcements are

enough to make any sane person go postal in a heart beat.....

I always seem to end up at Homeys when there is litereally ONE REGISTER open, and 8 people in line, so I HAVE to use them for my 1 roll duct tape or whatever small items.Otherwise I would just walk out and I guess they know that.
However at the Grocery store, NEVER in a million years, the girls at the market are SO friendly these days, that I would feel like im cheating on them .
I hate those machines, they offer you NOTHING whatsoever.
Didnt Kmart completely get rid of them in all their stores ? cause their average customer can barely figure out how to use the automatic doors in the right direction, never mind a "com-pooter".

Tellers don't work past 5pm generally. Thats was the original idea of them, off hour banking... But I see your point, I was'nt old enough to understand the impact of them at the time they came out, but I can now see the impact of the self check registers.

Another "convience" that seperates interaction among humans and helps the bottom line of business.

LMAO...I would like to know the same thing...I just think they are stupid period...someone has to stand there to help us idiots out anyway, why not just be a cashier and check us out, they always end up doing it for me anyway. :whackin:

I don't use the self checkout mainly because I am anal about bagging my stuff myself and use both paper and plastic bags. The self check only has plastic.

I hate those stupid machines. :nailem: I just don't understand the rationale for them, except the bottom line. You bring business to the store, and they say thank you by making you do all the work yourself? What a sham. They are not a convenience but a hindrance because they take longer than going through a cashier line and there are always problems with them. :hs:

not to mention they can drive by your house and know what items you own or do not own ....they still send out signals

and slinger....the 666 referal...is now being done to dead bodies by placing bar (tattoo's, so they dont get lost ) codes on them for tracking purpouses

Living on Cape Cod, we pay top dollar for food!! And then have to work to bag them don't work for me!!
