the chart for wood densities. can someone post a link to one? i spent about an hour trying to find it with no luck :huh:

Thanks mike. I found that one in my searching, but it is too vague for what i need. i want a breakdown of all of the softwoods. hhmm i know its out there :smash:

found it- this is what i was lookign for. for anyone else who needs this, scroll down to page 8 and 9. i dont think you will find a better list of what woods weigh..note how much all the different cedars weigh, as well as the maples.

Here is what I got, copied from some other site awhile ago....

"In my search for he right wood for the job, I found these measurements of wood density. Obviously this number varies dependant on the particular specimen and how seasoned (dried) it is. But this will give an idea for comparison purposes. The numbers indicate lbs/cu. ft. "
Seawater has a density of 64lb/cu.ft
Lead has a density of 710-lb/cu ft.
Ebony (Ironwood) 63 lbs/cuft
Live oak 59
Chestnut oak 54
Hickory 49
White oak 46
Elm 45
Yellow long leaf pine 44
Hard maple 43
Teak 43
Birch 43
Red oak 41
Black oak 41
Chestnut 41
Ash 40
